Cobweb-like Mold on Walnuts and In Bag
I've bought these walnuts before, with no problem. Recently, when I purchased them in bulk (12 pounds) to save money, I noticed one of the six-pound bags was full of some sort of cob-web like mold in the bag. The bag had only been open for a week, and it is fairly cool and dry at my location this time of year. This mold seems to have touched most of the walnuts as well. I am not going to eat these, and it is very unfortunate that I bought a whole 12 lbs. worth and this is what happened to the product. Not sure if this is a storage problem, or what. Perhaps the larger bags don't go as quickly, so they sit there for a while? The expiration date is not until February of 2019. They don't seem otherwise rancid, just infested, and thus inedible. If you look closely at the photos I've uploaded, you can see the substance in the bag and on the nuts themselves.

Lovely, Sweet and Fresh, USDA Organic, and Non-GMO Walnuts. A Highly Pleasurabke and Nutritious Addition to Your Diet Regime.
These are quite nice walnuts, an excellent value. As with practically all of the nut offerings of the quality company, "Food to Live", these are organic, and non-GMO. THE WALNUT ARE PACKAGED IN A VERY TOUGH BAG, WITH A ZIP-lock opening, the better to preserve freshness. I recommend packing these in a specially designated freezer bag, and immediately popping them into the freezer. These, and all other fresh, raw, completely natural and I treated Nuts offer many, many advantages. But - without all of the additives and chemicals, they have a tendency to become rancid earlier than the chemically treated varieties. These are raw and unsalted walnuts, of an extremely high quality grade. Elsewhere is has been suggested that they are from India, and not USDA Organic certified. In my case, as with all "Food to Live" products specified as organic and from the US, that is indeed the case, with the country of origin listed as the US, and bearing the USDA seal of an organic product. I happen to have lived very close to where these walnuts are grown, in California, and can attest to country of origin. These are a light, sweet, well-flavored walnut. These are not of the overly oily type that can sometimes be acquired, rather they are a perfect balance of oil, highly fragrant and fresh walnut aroma, and the accompanying sweet and very satisfactory Flavor.Walnuts are extremely high in protein, anti-oxidants, and fiber, and I use them as a component of my green Smoothie, upon which I subsist. The addition of walnuts, to a variety of other nuts, fruits, veggies, and other raw, non-treated, organic, and non-GMO products producers a very fine, nutritionally well-balanceert, and very tasteful Smoothie indeel.I use various otter "Food to Live" nuts in my Smoothies, and those, along with the addition of fresh organic fruits and vegetables produces an excellent Smoothie, a complete meal in itself, nutritionally speaking. These walnuts are not the harsher and stronger tasting Black English walnut, and apply themselves perfectly to the blend of the other nuts and ingredients.I highly recommend these healthy, extremely nutritious, and lovely tasting walnuts. The mild and sweet flavor addition of a truly fresh, and very high quality walnut, is an experience to be savored in various other foods. You will not find yourself to be disappointed.

Food To Live walnuts 2.5 lbs. Excellent!
I'm convinced I should consume more walnuts and almonds. I researched thoroughly and chose Food To Live. Two days later, I rec'd the best walnuts I've ever tasted. Virtually no broken halves, and they taste very fresh. One of the better purchases I've made recently. I'll be ordering more. Thanks, Amazon.

... these walnuts using Subscribe and Save and I have enjoyed them in the past
I have bought these walnuts using Subscribe and Save and I have enjoyed them in the past. But, this time when I opened the bag, the walnuts were rancid. The walnuts were very dark. When I compared them to the ones that I bought previously, there was a big difference in the taste. Instead of being sweet and pleasant, they had an off-putting taste. What a shame! I will remove them from my Subscribe and Save and not buy them again.

Not organic, not from USA!
Description says "These walnut halves and pieces are mainly grown in California". These nuts were NOT grown in California. These nuts come from India (said so on the package). It was distributed by some company with headquarters in California that's it! In addition, these nuts are not really organic: can't trust the made up label "organic" if it's not USDA certified. I don't buy nonorganic nuts that come from Asia and India as far as I know is not in N.America, so I was disappointed to read these come from abroad. I wanted to buy 10 lbs, glad bought just 2.5 to try. I would have given this 1 star if it wasn't for the ok taste. For nonorganic walnuts taste test passed, but not something I would eat in a first place. Money chucked due to deceitful description. Beware.

buy, eat, feel restored!
I swear, upon opening up the box and seeing a huge giant bag of fresh walnuts, I hugged it. My husband said I needed a hobby, I told him I just needed a salad to crush up these little dudes over. We use walnuts (and Food To Live Brazil Nuts) as part of our morning vitamin plate- which is composed of wholefood supplements like raw garlic, blueberries, seaweed, fish broth, sauerkraut, dark chocolate, and nuts and seeds. Starting every morning off with a vitamin plate and 1 liter of water has transformed and renewed our body and mind- especially when we replace lunch with some homemade green juice. But here's the rub- when we were buying many of these ingredients from the bulk sections or non-organic, the impact wasn't the same. So I switched out the bulk items with Food To Live products and immediately saw a huge difference! Fresh matters! Stale, moth ridden nuts from the bulk section just isn't the same, even at my favorite brand new and clean Whole Foods that just opened up last month. I've tried other brands too, but Food To Live has won every taste/fresh test, so we keep coming back to them. I recommend all their products, especially the brazil nuts and walnuts. Some days I do miss the savings from the bulk section, and yes, we've had to adjust here and there to make our food budget afford healthy and organic products/produce- but it's worth it. I might miss the savings, but I don't miss the chronic fatigue and headaches!
