Dexter 20400 Leather Sheath, 6" Produce Knives, Leather, Brown

The On I received looked suspiciously like the "Mercer Culinary Leather Sheath for M23840 Produce Knife, Stainless Steel, Brown" and not the one shown. Even the lettering on the stamp is the same just says mercer instead of dexter. The Leather isn't coated, treated or finished in any way, It's very light colored. The angle is meant for lefties. I need The One for right-handed people like I ordered! It'll work for a dexter style knife but the quality sucks. And for a Mercer Style with the angled handle, you'd have to hang it on or left side, or twist your wrist every time you draw your knife.

I bought three of these sheaths and all of them came considerably lighter-colored than the picture. The leather is basically raw/untreated and will soak up oil and wax like a sponge. I definitely recommend treating it with wax, mink oil, neatsfoot oil, or something waterproof if you plan on using it outside.The leather appears to be of good quality and the two pieces were well-stitched and riveted together. The belt loop is very simple, being just two slits in the sheath where a belt can go through rather than an actual loop. Because the sheath lacks some sturdiness and is very tight around most blades, getting the knife out when it is on a belt can be tricky. Attempting to pull the knife out with one hand bent and twisted the sheath and pulled my belt around all sorts of directions before it was liberated. Really two hands are needed to pull the knife out and replace it, which can get pretty annoying during work.Overall the sheath is of good quality for the price and will protect your knife, but you will probably want to spend the extra money for a sturdier one if you use your knife for work or plan on taking it out frequently.

I currently work in a produce department and this thing is a life saver. When hired on, you get a cheap plastic sheath that’s very easy to break. I’ve gone through at least 3 plastic sheaths in the two years I’ve worked there. Now that I have this leather one, I never have to worry about a thing. It’s comfortable and kinda looks cool. Highly recommend it, especially for the price.

Nice leather, the loop-through belt design it has is nice compared the the flap-over design others have that never stay snapped in place. But it does require two hands to secure the knife in at times because it is very narrow the entire length through... I like it, I would just like it more if the sheath had an opening that was slightly wider than the exact size if the knife blade height

Great and durable. For as sharp as this knife is this sheath handles day in and day out abuse and I work in the printing industry so it's used all day long!

I got this in combination with a nice produce knife I got. It was really stiff at first but after a good 2 days of work with the knife going in and out of the sheeth, it has loosed up and works amazingly

It's a nice sheath that holds well. The belt loop is also pretty generous in its size, so it's compatible with alot of things. My sheath came with a few funny-looking green streaks on its front, but luckily they could be scrubbed off with a Clorox wipe, so if you get those marks, it should be fine.

Very nice! Works great. Stiff at first but after breaking it in it’s awesome. I highly recommend getting this
