Interesting and well written, going into historical and social perspectives and offering more depth than I anticipated.

Such as interesting book. I’m loving each of the chapters as they are filled with all kinds of history on the drug and interesting facts. I’m a pyschology and sociology major and this book was perfect on addictions.

The book is easy to read, well written, an excellent reference source of information on basic drug addiction, societal implications, and brief history of the development of drugs and pharmaceutical manufacturing, as well as drug regulation.Recommended; the reader has basic chemistry and human physiology knowledge.

This is a well written text book and it uses one of the best teaching methods in existence, repetition. Several times I have noticed that it reinforces concepts by saying them again later in the book and thus also ties thing together better. My only complaint is that the book is vastly over priced. If I were not a senior citizen, I would not be able to afford the course and the text book.

Awesome book! Wished I had bought it and not rented it. Contains alot of valuable information. Renting, however was easy for my first time and if you are someone who does not like to keep books, I highly recommend renting this book. Price was great and this book arrived fast!

Needed this for a college class and I hardly used it. (But I think that’s a fault of the teacher, not the book....)

This was a good price for what would have been $80+ brand new. It was in good shape for being used, and I received it very quickly.

Lots of info about drugs but the author does not talk about the psychological aspect of addictions in great detail. This was the required text for a psychology of addictions class I took and the professor had to add a lot of material that was not covered in the text. For the money I paid for this book I would have been better off to not buy it and just study from the power points my professor provided. If you want to learn about drugs it is a good read...if you are interested in the psychological aspect of addiction look somewhere else.
