SAVED MY WRIST!
This mouse saved my wrist, I could tell the difference right away!QUALITY: Yes!! This mouse has a sleek feel with the darker plastic being more of a satin style rubber and the light grey a slick lightly sparkling hard plastic. The weight to me is about medium. I have had gaming mice that were quite a bit heavier. It is not as light as a cheap mouse though, so be ready for that. However I grew used to it very quickly. Worth every penny you spend!IN USE: It takes a little bit of getting used to. My wrist and arm had shooting pains from overwork, which is what caused me to purchase this mouse. In the middle of a flair up after meeting a deadline, I switched to this mouse and right away the pain let up. It has been so wonderful I have bought 2 more for friends! They all speak as well it took about a week to get used to how this mouse moves over the flat kind. However for me it came real natural. To get a feel for it, take your mouse you have now, tilt it up on its right side, and set your hand on it that way, you will get an "idea" of how it helps your wrist. Top of the mouse has a DPI button, very handy. This lets you set how far the mouse pointer roams when you move the mouse. From very small, to large movements. Very helpful for customizing a feel that works for you.Mouse wheel acts like a button, works very well in Maya, and blender for meshing. As well as in Photoshop. The thumb buttons, one up and below are super handy when flipping through browser pages. I know some people hit them by accident. I don't seem to suffer from that, but I do use them. It glides smoothly across a mouse pad and easily.-----> In all, it saved me from a lot of pain, helped me work while my wrist healed up. I would spend double what they are asking for just that alone. Really great product! <-----

TLDR - It isn't perfect, but it is an excellent ergonomic mouse that relieves wrist stress
J-Tech was courteous enough to send me a replacement unit after my review. I'll leave my original review in place but update it here. I've been using the replacement unit for close to a month now and I've had no issues with it. I bought a new mouse pad as well and waited to use it with a new mouse pad as the scratches on the previous one impaired the performance of any mouse. My opinion is that the vertical mouse takes a bit of getting used to the ergonomic configuration but after a few weeks myself and my kids are all using it intuitively with ease. I've used it for business, leisure and gaming. Ergonomics is what it is designed for and ergonomics is where it shines. The strain relief is both immediately noticeable and noticeably less after prolonged use. As an Engineer I spend too much time in front of a computer and this ergonomic design really relives the stress so that I don't mind playing some games afterwards with my kids. It isn't a gaming mouse and you don't quite kit the same high speed precision as you would with a gaming mouse, but you also don't get the same pains in your wrist after playing with it for an extended amount of time. I think there is still room for some design improvements in later generations but I've not encountered anything as uncomfortable as this mouse design in the last 20 years.I'll let my original review stand for the first unit's bad quality but I'm giving this five stars on the basis that in the end what I got was an excellent and highly ergonomic mouse for a rather inexpensive price.Original review:I enjoyed the ergonomic design and its a great concept. How much I enjoyed the grip and the comfort of my hand resting on it gives this review a definite +1 star. It takes a bit of getting used to the new grip but you can relearn it fairly quickly and the button placement is very intuitive once you unlearn what you're used to.The downside unique to my unit is what killed it. The bottom surface of the mouse wasn't flush. No matter how much I tried to adjust it there was a sharp corner on the bottom which tore up my mouse pad and of course made it slow to scroll when going that direction. So despite the great design ideas it clearly needed some more quality control. Better luck next time.

A straightfoward, inexpensive way to try out a vertical mouse.
When I came across vertical mice on Amazon, I was curious. While I had no need to replace my hardcore 9000 button gaming mouse with unicorn rainbow lighting and football field sized DPI amounts, I was still interested in the aspects of long term comfort and wrist wear. I use a keyboard and mouse alot and that has to eventually have a long term effect on my wrist. Maybe I should invest in one of these...Thankfully, this particular mouse was on sale/rebate for less than $13, so i took a gamble. It's pretty good, and extremely simple. The mouse comes in a very basic cardboard box with more printing on the box than what's actually in the box. Both the included folded, single sheet instruction manual and box printing basically just describes the product specs, website/contact information, and a diagram explaining how it is better for reducing "Reptitive Strain Injury" with a smiley face accompanying the use of this mouse versus the frown of a regular mouse. It's overselling itself a bit here, but truthfully, at least for my hand size, my right hand rests comfortably and naturally on the device and i'm able to use all the buttons and motions effectively. It is a bit too easy to accidentally tap the buttons near the thumb area, so beginners will probably finding themselves going backwards or forwards in their browser by accident. There is plenty of room for your thumb though, so I think it is partly a matter of getting used to the positioning to avoid accidental presses. Also, due to the left click being high on the mouse and sideways, it seems to be less easy to double click effective. Not every time, but sometimes I feel like I double click and it doesn't quite register, or because of the fact that I don't have gravity assisting me as such with a regular mouse, I can't double quite as fast. I can't recommend this mouse for serious gaming, though I was able to play around in Doom II and shoot some old school demons effectively.Because I'm a hardcore gamer with a crazy gaming mouse, this won't replace my Corsair gaming mouse, but I have swapped out my work mouse. There is no need for any external software/drivers, and should work "Plug n Play" on any modern Windows system (I've used it on Win7 and Win 10). I don't have other OS's to test, but I can't imagine they will be a huge problem (though I guess Linux could be a wild card) - Left Click, Right Click, Middle Mouse + Wheel, Mouse 4 and Mouse 5. Any modern OS worth its salt should recognize this and I imagine it would work on WinXP, but I no longer have an XP machine to test this on.I think this mouse is the perfect introductory vertical mouse to see if the form factor/style works for you for general use. If you like it, stick with it, if you like it, but have issues, now you can investigate other models. If you hate it, return it or gift and stick with what you know. It won't cost you to much just to try it out.
