Horse Fairy Musical Jewelry Box Spins to "In the Good Old Summer Time" 3 Pullout Drawers Treasure Storage

This music box was a Christmas present for my 6-year-old daughter. She loves horses and has a bunch of beads and trinkets that she had been storing in various old tins and such. This seemed like the perfect combination of storage, music, and horses. There were two similar music boxes for sale, but this one won out because my daughter likes white horses the best, and this was the only one with a white horse.The outside design of the box is very cute. I think I prefer the look of this one:  Enchantmints Graceful Gallop Music Box , but I'm not a 6-year-old girl. That one plays "Home on the Range." But it has a brown horse, and that just wouldn't do. There was also this one:  Horse Ranch Music Box , which plays "My Old Kentucky Home." But again, the brown horse ruled that one out. For what it is, the white horse with fairies looks pretty charming.The rendition of "In the Good Old Summertime" is well done, especially for a music box. It's a little fast, certainly, but music box songs almost always are. It's a song my wife and kids had never hear before, but it fits the whimsy of the horse and fairies rather nicely, actually. Unlike some metallic sounds, this is actually rather pleasant to listen to, and a good thing, too, considering it plays several times through for each full wind of the crank.For the size of the box, I was a little disappointed by the lack of usable space. There is a large drawer in the bottom front, one *very* small drawer on each side, and a well on top under the horse figurine. I didn't take it apart to see just how much room the music mechanism takes up, but there could easily have been more storage space given simply by expanding the drawers on the sides (there's clearly room for that). Again, though, it does seem like enough room for all my daughter's "important" stuff, so who am I to judge that?The horse figurine is plastic and cheap-looking. The paint job was a little hasty. For example, not all the painted facial features line up exactly with the respective curves in the mold. That's minor, though. It's attached to the spinning spring with hot glue, and there was a bit of a blob where that was done. It wasn't attached exactly straight, so the horse doesn't truly spin on its axis like one would expect (the ballerina look). Having grown up with horses, and seen reining horses and others that might spin in this fashion, the horse does appear to be spinning in the wrong direction based on where its feet are, but that won't ruin the effect for most people.The Bottom Line~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I give this music box 4 stars overall. The design on the outside is very pretty, very whimsical. The rendition of "In the Good Old Summertime" is actually quite good, for a music box. The drawers are adequately constructed, and the lid with its built-in clasp gets the job done. The mirror attached to the underside of the lid is a nice touch. I can't give it 5 stars for a few reasons. It definitely seems to waste space. There is certainly room for more or larger drawers, particularly on the sides of the box. The spinning horse figurine is plastic, is hastily painted, and is affixed to the post with hot glue, leaving an obvious glue blob at the bottom. The hinges on the top door seem like they may fail over time.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It is a great idea……i ordered it right after thanksgiving, it took 3 weeks to get here, i almost gave up on it, but it finally made it!It might be made out of wood, but the paper sceanery that covers it is very delicate i guess. It is torn in at least 3 places. I dont have time to return it, so im going to try to glue it. The music and twirling horse seem to be ok so far. My young grand daughter will like it anyway. The drawers are pretty tiny but they hopefully are fun to open and close. Overall, its an ok buy if you allow yourself plenty of time

Overall it is nice, I thought the horse had purple hair though and it's not. The color of the hair is gray :( Also, my package was shipped via FedEx then handed to the USPS who delivered it to the wrong address......Not the shippers fault but non the less it took extra time to receive it. I do think it's a cute box for a little girl but the horse on the inside does look very cheap.

I purchased two of these for my twin granddaughters for Christmas. They are little girls who love horses, fairies and jewelry. I am certain they will be happy when they open these.The quality was very good, I have no complaints.The scenes on the box are very sweet and ideal for little girls who still have dreams.The music box is wind up and the horse is plastic of course, but what else did I expect.I was pleased and am certain the littles will be as well.

But I found the quality to be fairly poor for the price. The music box sounds nice, and the mechanism has withstood constant winding by a very young child. The horse inside looks a bit skeletal, with poorly finished seams and an awkward stance. The box itself is paper/cardboard; the pictures are very nice. The mirror inside is a shiny piece of plastic.

I bought this for my soon to be nine year old granddaughter who loves music boxes and horses. I'm sure she will be delighted with it for Christmas.

The Music box is good quality and beautiful, although the pictures seem to depict it a bit larger and I was slightly disappointed to see its size. Overall a good purchase.

We purchased this music box as a gift for a granddaughter.However, we have 3 granddaughters with birthdays fairly close together.Luckily the music boxes are similar but different and all 3 girls LOVEDtheir musical jewelry box! Now, the plan is to start buying them ageappropriate jewelry and little treasures to keep in their special boxes!Nice quality gift for our little darlings!
