Delicious and (almost) foolproof to make
Yes, I know. It seems a bit ridiculous to complain about making Mexican rice - either truly homemade or even the ones in the box. It only takes about 20 minutes. But, usually we're chopping lettuce, shredding cheese, getting everything ready and I forget the rice and it burns. So we bought one of these packets. I admit I was skeptical, but we thought it tasted great. Of course it will taste differently than homemade rice. And no, being a prepared product, it is not going to be the healthiest of choices. But we make most of our meals from scatch so I don't feel guilty about using a prepared product here and there. We've had this rice with tacos, enchiladas, rotel chicken tortilla stack, mexican lasagna, stuffed burritos, and on top of supreme nachos. My only warning is be sure to tear the bag. I was in a hurry one night and put a bag in and about 40 seconds later, I heard a big BOOM and it had exploded inside the microwave. Sure enough, I'd forgotten to tear the corner open. But for its ease of making, no pots to clean afterwards and how quickly it's ready to eat, I gave it 5-stars.

Perfect
This is our favorite rice and our store was out completely. So as you do, you impulse buy an entire flat. Everything came packaged just fine, arrived on time, and had an expiration date of over an entire year out. This rice is easy to make and tasted delicious.

Good in a pinch
Mexican rice is not a difficult dish to make, but it does take some time...more time than it takes to prepare one of these Old El Paso Spanish rice dishes. We like to make our own Spanish rice but these are really nice to have when you have time constraints imposed on you and you have to bang out dinner quickly.Living in Southern New Mexico like we do, you basically have no choice but to become an authority on Tex-Mex food, and I can say that the Old El Paso brand Spanish rice is the closest we have found to homemade. Granted, this rice will never be as good as homemade Spanish rice, but it's something we don't mind settling for when we don't have time to make the real thing.

Rice Recipe
This is the best Spanish rice I've found. It tastes fresh and yummy by itself, or in a casserole.RECIPE: Arroz con Pollo (Use only Old El Paso Spanish Rice in a box!)Boil 3-4 chicken breasts in water with 2 bay leaves and a few pepper corns. Prepare 2 boxes of rice according to directions on box, using chicken broth plus water, if needed. While rice is cooking, debone chicken and shred with fork. When rice is done, add chicken, and 1/2 to 3/4 c. sour cream to rice. Mix well. Layer casserole pan (9 x 13) with refried beans, then add rice mixture. Top with grated cheddar cheese, and heat until cheese is melted. Serve immediately. Put your own twist on it by adding black olives, chopped green onions, jalapenos, etc. Great with green salad. This rice is hard to find in our area, so I've ordered it from Amazon the last couple of times I've needed it. Thanks, Amazon, for making it available to me.

What an awesome first christmas present for my girlfriend! LOL.
Last year, I didn't quite know what to get my gf for Christmas until we were out shopping at the local grocery and noticed that they no longer carried OEP Cheesy Mexican Rice. She looked at me with actual sadness in her eyes, as we'd eaten it at least once or twice per month for our entire relationship. We checked everywhere for availability... Target? Out. Walmart? Out. Harris Teeter & Food Lion? Out and Out. So, I went on Amazon looking for a gift she'd never forget... and here it was. The laugh we shared on Christmas was worth the price, which is still a great deal nonetheless.Of course, I got her other stuff too... but nothing quite made an impression like a case of Cheesy Mexican Rice. We had to order another case in July!
