Made it easy to pass my license exam.
This book is for those who want more than just answers to the exam questions. It teaches the background so you understand WHY an answer is correct. The book and related online section quizzes enabled me to take my test before the exam question set changed for the technician exam. Recommended.Marsh F.

Easy to understand book and a valuable resource in preparation for the technician license test!
When starting out in ham radio, you will realize how much you doesn't know. Even with my experience in the Air Force working on fighter jets and their electronic systems, it's been a while and some things were easier than others but this book makes sure that you can be knowledgeable about every aspect of the licensed test for technician. I strongly recommend it to people of all levels of prayer experience with electronics and radios. You'll definitely find things that you didn't know but need to know for the test.

Great training of electronics concepts behind the question pool
This is a great book written by someone who obviously knows what he's talking about. While you can find a lot of information on websites, it's not always categorized in an order that suits the beginning ham. I tried using apps but all they have is the 400 question pool repeated over and over again. I didn't want to just pass the test by memorizing the answers... I wanted to understand the concepts involved. I haven't finished the book yet but it has answered a lot of questions for me about frequencies about what you say when you are on the radio, and the actual electronics behind the test questions, which I'm just starting to learn.I was going to be ready for a test April 11th which unfortunately was canceled due to Coronavirus. So I'm going to be in a situation where I'm all dressed up and no place to go. hopefully the FCC will address this issue and enough radio clothes will come together to figure out a no-cheat way to give this exam over the internet. On a decent web guy and programmer so if anyone wants to get together with me about doing just that contact Lynch tech NY at Gmail dot com. No spaces in the email address of course.Great book and I'm looking forward to getting into the meat of it now.

Not just to prepare you for the exam, but to understand ham radio
The quizzes are from the 423 question FCC pool. Easily accessed on the internet on their media page. At the end of every chapter there is a quiz. A lot more information in this book about being a technician class radio operator than just enough to pass the quiz. Can't wait to take the test 11/10/21. Start using my new found knowledge. Start studying for General license exam. Highly recommend this book over other books I looked into before buying this one. Well illustrated as well .

Good Ham Radio Tech Book
This book was everything that I had expected! It has nice pictures, but they are in black and white, if you have a problem with that. The diagrams are good also. This book should be a good study guide and will be very helpful in me passing my technician License in September. Good luck to anyone that is planning to take the test anytime soon!

Fantastic
I can't tell you how much I wish I had started with this book....not to knock the ARRL's books...but it and other books out there seem to have an elitist feel to them..they bombard you with equations and diagrams that are just not the most thought out when presented to people that number one...have been out of school a long time...and two need to understand the basics...behind the basics. And if you truly want to understand these basics you have to go slow and have detailed simple explanations and diagrams. What Stu does, is he starts at the beginning and lil by lil he builds and builds.....not only that but he readdresses what you have already learned no presents it into a more detailed chapter..so you never feel you are bombarded and you have a base to say..."wow...so that's what microphone gain is..etc..." You nod to yourself and feel positive about learning...without missing something in the gobbly gook of the more "thicker" manuals. One of the reasons I bought this book was I was hoping for a more simpler explanation of things that I could read on and off while at work to revisit the fundamentals so I could move on to the general license....finally get out of the HT only phase...and I am absolutely happy about this purchase. I plan to get the general class book soon and discover more of the HF world.

Good format, but refers to the website too much
I bought this for my son, who has decided to get his license at age 40. It is well written and formatted, and like most ham study books is heavily oriented toward teaching the question pool and light on background info. For almost everything except straight question answers you are referred to their website for "more information". Great if all you're interested in is passing the test, or as a refresher if you want to help someone else study, but a pain to be constantly running to the computer if you want in depth info.
