Skinomi Screen Protector Compatible with Pebble E-Paper Smartwatch (6-Pack) Clear TechSkin TPU Anti-Bubble HD Film

Let's be honest here, when screen protectors first came out, they were pretty much a joke. The concept was great, but the product ended up being glorified pieces of clear shipping tape. I have been excited to write this review for awhile because this is one of few product's that i had my expectations, and then was blown away after seeing the results. I had been following the Pebble for years and sense early development, and i saw recently that Best Buy had started carrying them. I quickly ended up buying one and after hearing how durable they are from the developers i thought the watch would be very solid and hard to scratch up, after having the watch for a week and wearing it constantly from the first time i charged it. I never wore watches before but the control i have over my phone with this thing is so great i find myself never taking it off, i even sleep wearing it because it has an alarm feature that helps me wake up. After this heavy use i noticed the screen didn't look as shiny and glossy as it did when i had first put it on, and there was little scratches all over it developing. I quickly realized i needed to order a cover, but couldn't stop wearing the watch while i waited for the cover to arrive, i even got rushed shipping. By the time the cover had arrived my 2 week old Pebble was starting to show some battle scars, the thing that blew me away after following the helpful online video instructions.(I hadn't applied a Skinomi cover before) is after the cover had cured, it actually seemed to fill in the imperfections on my screen, this made my screen more glossy and shiny then it did out of the box when i first opened it. Not to mention not a single scratch has made any kind of marks have happened sense i installed the screen protector. I don't have to worry about damaging my Pebble anymore, and to me that is really important in the freedom it gives me. I longboard, hike and i am very active outdoors, it's nice that this protector allows me to take my watch with me on all the things i really enjoy and not have to worry about my watch! I really think all Pebbles should come with this protector on them, it's really what the watch was missing. Not to mention the warranty on this cover, it's the only one your ever need to buy. Skinomi has definitely got me as a customer for life for any device i ever have from here on out with a screen. Highly have been recommending to all my friends and will continue to do so. This is truly the first screen protector that has really gotten my attention and changed what i thought a screen protector can be. Not to mention installation was so much easier then any other screen protector i have ever tried to apply. First time, no bubbles, super straight forward. Just watch the video on there website before you open up your screen protector! This is the part of your Pebble you have been missing!

This is not a run of the mill screen protector, applying it can be frustrating and requires patience to deal with the air bubbles or getting the corners to stay down during the application and curing process. It is good to see this material becoming more common, I originally bought the exact same stuff from a different company for my Kindle 2 a few years ago. You get a high quality and slightly rubbery piece of polyurethane, it is a little sticky on one side and you use an included spray bottle filled with a very mild detergent to make adhering it to your gadget a little easier. The only problem with this stuff is that it needs to cure for a few days before you can be sure of the final results, it can be maddening to get this stuff to set correctly without air bubbles or new ones forming a few hours after you applied it. I had a little trouble keeping the corners to stay down, more spray and reapplying with some light pressure on the problem areas solved the problem. Three small air bubbles formed overnight as the spray liquid evaporated from under the screen protector, so I'm probably going to gently peel it off and try reapplying again. However once you get it set you can be sure that it will not come off, unless you pick at it or something. My previous experience with this product on my Kindle 2 left me with an unprecedented inability to scratch, scuff or even damage the screen protector. I've had this stuff on my Kindle 2 for 5 years and I haven't seen any change in the material color or had it come off yet. There were a few air bubbles that I decided to leave because they didn't obstruct the screen, my OCD had me trying to pop them with a needle a few months later and I discovered that I couldn't actually drive the needle through the material. I recently replaced the screen on my Kindle 2 and I'll write back about what it is like to remove 5 year old screen protector and see if it can be reapplied. As a closing note, the self healing thing nearly-almost total crap and is bad marketing. I know an expert in the plastics industry who explained it to me like this: when subjected to small hairline scratches the polyurethane WILL slowly creep and even out the gap, however it will have trouble filling in anything larger than that. The product WILL NOT "heal like skin" as I have heard said before about similar and different screen protectors; it doesn't regenerate or grow back but it is incredibly durable and a tiny bit fluid to ease scratches away. 5 Stars - Excellent stuff! I'll remove a few stars if I ever have to deal with customer service and they also give me a hard time, but until then I'm standing by my rating.

So first thing to get out of the way is YES you definitely need a screen protector for the Pebble. I scratched mine pretty bad at the gym - luckily it had defective flashing screen and Pebble sent a replacement. The Skinomi screen protector is very very good - almost perfect. On the good side it completely disappears on the watch - when it dries it is invisible, completely. When you are first putting it on it slips and slides alot so just make sure you got it lined up right and then don't touch it and let it dry. It looks like the 4 tabs of the lugs won't dry correctly - but they will stick to the watch - you'll be amazed. I would give the Skinomi 5 stars but after several months it can start to peel off a bit of the four tabs cover the lugs. Granted on my first watch I slept, showered, bathed, etc. with it which I think is what contributed to the peeling a bit. My new one is at a month and shows no signs of peeling. Oh and you get an offer for a free Skinomi which I thought was very cool. All in all this screen protector is both needed and works very well. Even if it doesn't last forever - it lasts a long time and is well worth the money.

Full disclosure--Skinomi is providing a second copy of the product for review as part of the "Skinomi Awareness Program." With that said, though, thus far I'm quite impressed with the Skinomi Pebble screen protector and will give the freebie to a friend when his own Pebble arrives. As another reviewer noted, the packaging box was fun, looking for all intents and purposes like something out of a James Bond or sci-fi movie. You lift the lid and the application solution is raised out of its recess. All the materials that you need to install are placed in the lid including: a "STOP!" card that takes you to a generic installation video; the screen protector itself; a soft rubber paddle (which is great); and a lint-free cloth. That last item is important as my only minor quibble is that the installation video says that the product doesn't come with one so I didn't look for it. Only when I pushed the used materials back into the box did the lint-free cloth reveal itself. Minor quibble, and ultimately it didn't cause a problem since I had some hanging around from other screen installations (non-Skinomi). I watched the installation video a couple of times before attempting the installation of the screen protector. I had avoided Skinomi products before because of the idea of spraying liquid over an electronic device, but as the Pebble is waterproof this didn't phase me this time around. Installation was a little bit fiddly because of the size of the screen protector--I found the thing sliding all over the place and eventually had to hold it in place with a thumb while sliding the soft rubber paddle to get the liquid from underneath the protector. This also introduced a bit of a problem with regards to the four "tags" that extend down the watch arms of the Pebble as the protector would shift as I tried to smooth the tags down. Here the use of a hair dryer (as noted in the generic installation video) is really useful. As noted in the product description, minor imperfections disappear over time and the thing really is as invisible as they say. I would now consider buying Skinomi screen protectors for my other devices and, indeed, will probably pick up their protector for the Microsoft Surface RT.

Putting this skin on my new Pebble watch was not hard, but the four corners would not lay flat and I found that I had to use a nail cutter to cut some of the ends off. I let it dry overnight as the instructions indicate and its true the bubbles will work themselves out within a day or 2. The skin seemed to be ok, clear and bubble free but what was still left of the corners started to peel up, so nail clippers again to clip off the pieces that are lifting up.. so now the skin is almost without the 4 corner pieces. I don't think you really need them in the first place. I think if I need to replace this skin, I would cut off the four corner pieces before I apply it to the watch, it may lay flatter and last longer will see how this one does its been 2 months now, the main part of the skin is still protecting well, clear and pretty scratch free, although you can see whats left of the 4 corner pieces are slowly lifting. But overall an ok product.

Some might wonder, as I did, how you can mess up a screen protector. Well - the good folks at Skinomi have managed to do just that! I ordered two of these screen protectors and both of them arrived with EMPTY solution bottles. For those unfamiliar with this type of product, it cannot be installed without the solution. In order to fix the problem I've spent 20 minutes online confirming that the bottles shouldn't be empty and another 10 minutes trying to get a return authorization only to find out I have to wait for Skinomi to approve it. We are all busy people and the fact that I've had to spend 40 minutes trolling the web to find out how to return a 2X2 inch piece of plastic that cost $10 is crazy. Do yourself a favor - save the headache of dealing with Skinomi and opt for Zagg! In three years, they've never shipped me defective products. Epic fail Skinomi! UPDATE: Skinomi replied saying that they have repackaged the product and that the user now has to add water. They claim this appears in instructions but there is no mention of this in any of the literature contained in the package or in the YouTube video that Skinomi tells users to reference for installation. Furthermore, their FAQ doesn't have any information about adding water to the bottle so I'm not sure where these imaginary instructions actually are. Keep this in mind if you buy this product as you will need distilled/DI water to prevent any kind of mineral deposits forming under the screen protector. Be prepared for a trip to the store in order to make this piece of plastic work! I generally don't post reviews and I have never posted a negative review of a product. That said - I can't understand how a company can take something so simple and straightforward and make it so overly complicated. Do yourself a favor and find another product.

I've had my Pebble for a few weeks and having been wearing it every day at work. Unfortunately though, my job is very physical and hands-on, so my beautiful Pebble was taking a beating and is already really scratched and scuffed up. I was heartbroken when I noticed a couple deep-ish scratched on the watch face! In a panic, I desperately searched for a good protector for my very expensive and very much loved watch. Insert Skinomi! I ordered my simple Skinomi screen protector along with a full-body one for my husband. We read the instructions thoroughly and watched the videos on the website and it seemed pretty simple, but I'll admit that, after reading the reviews, I was a little intimidated. It was SO EASY to install and took like, 5 minutes. The only annoying part was how the skin slipped and slid around when I tried to smooth it out to make sure all the bubbles went away, but really I just had to stop being such a perfectionist and stop, haha! I did need a hairdryer to get the little "arms" of the screen protector to lay down on the curved edges though. I highly recommend having one nearby. A delicate hand and a hairdryer are all it takes to get it on. I didn't let mine sit for 24 hours, I'll admit. I installed the protector in the evening, then wore it the next morning without any issues. I did notice that after 24 hours though, it did become virtually invisible! And the absolute BEST part? I can't even see ANY of the scuffs and scratches that marred my Pebble screen before installing the skin protector! I was SO HAPPY!! It looks brand new again!! I'll definitely stick with the Skinomi screen protectors for me Pebble for this reason alone.

I hated this from the moment I received it. Seriously, I need to use some weird liquid on the protector? Plus a lot of little pamphlets are shoved in the box and it just seemed really tedious to install. So after making sure I had an hour to spend on getting this applied I looked up the videos online on how to install it. I used the "soapy" water spray on both my fingers and the back of the skin after carefully buffing my already scuffed pebble watch with the inclosed micro-fiber cloth. While applying the skin I found there is a very fine line between having too much water (slips all over the pebble watch) and too little water (sticks to the watch like duct tape) but after spending about 5 minutes lining it up and another 5 minutes of pushing out bubbles I look at the screen and lo and behold it looked... like crap. Seriously, it looked like Shrek sneezed all over it. So I left it alone, like the directions say, for a few hours while charging and checked it again and it looked a little bit better. After about two days with it on the skin looks just as clear as glass. I don't even notice it on there anymore and the scuff I had on it before is no longer visible. I have to say while I might have hated the product in the beginning, I love it now. If's been about 2 weeks and it's taken a number of hits like a champ as there are no noticeable blemishes on the display. So far so good. Update - 2/24/2015 Dropping rating from 5 to 2. After two months of use the top and bottom left area are peeling up and now looks looks hideous. Attempted three times to submit to the warranty claim site with no response. I've attempted to reach out directly to customer service and am hoping for a better resolution using that method. Will update if I get any sort of comment from the company.
