Yamaha Sensitive Series MSD-1365BAM 13-inch Snare Drum - Black Maple

This drum has great rebound response and the feel of playing it is a real pleasure. I tend to like my tuning in the mid- to lower range and this drum sounds fat but not muddy in that range. As far as dynamics, it is indeed sensitive when played quietly, the snares don't miss anything. And when you pound it, it gives out a clear pop rather than the dull slap sound lots of deeper-shell snares seem prone to. Maybe it's because it's maple, I don't know, I heard things both ways about whether the wood or the shell construction has the most effect on this kind of thing. But this gave me what I wanted, a warmer sound than I'm getting from my steel snare, with clear and well-defined sound at all volume levels.

Body, weight and response in spades! I am happily surprised with higher tensioned tuning, the speed and sensitivity from a deeper shell and how it adds a richness to the kit as the main snare along with a Birch Custom piccolo. My fifth Yamaha snare and finest in finish and character. Matches my Yamaha Maple Absolute kit with power and clarity. I at first wanted the 14 X 5.5" but glad I acquired the 6.5" instead. One of the last Yamaha Japanese-made Maple drums available in the ever-classic cherry wood finish.

Great fit and finish,but the term sensitive is more marketing hype than realty.If you are looking for articulation @ PPP ,this ain't the drum.Peal free floaters Ludwig SS or Fibes are a much better bet.
