The Elder Scrolls Online: Tales of Tamriel, Book I: The Land

For fans of the Elder Scrolls online, this is a must-have gaming supplement.It's not exactly what I expected.I thought that it was going to be a guide to the land. Silly me. What it is instead is a series of anecdotes and tales as told by inhabitants of Tamriel.The book itself is a work of artistry. It has a heavy duty binding, and pages that are faux aged. It is lavishly illustrated, and many pages have small hand-drawn illustrations and illegible ink-ings that add to the feeling that this is a collection of stories or perhaps a personal journal.The one thing that it is lacking is maps. I was really expecting there to be maps. Even a collection of stories might've had a hand-drawn map or two tucked into it.Also, truth in lending, while I highly recommend this book. If you're expecting there to be secrets revealed in it, think again. Everything in this book that I read is available in other sources. Sorry! No dark secrets are revealed.Again if you are a fan of the Elder Scrolls, I highly recommend this book.

This book is gorgeous. It is absolutely beautiful.A lot of the content can be found in TESO if you read the various books you come across in game, but the illustrations and the overall construction of the book are fantastic. The very best part is when you first open it and catch a wiff of that delicious new-book smell. The pictures are fantastic and beautiful, and the various stories/articles are interesting to read.The pages are thick and sturdy, and the cover is a supple almost leather-like feel to it.I took off one star for the following reasons:1. The font is a little... meh. This is a personal opinion, I think it would have been much better if the font looked more like handwriting instead of a generic "ye olde font."2. The cover holds fingerprints horribly and isn't very easy to rub off. It's a wonderful feeling material, and it's beautiful, but after holding it enough to read it there are fingerprints and smudges all over it. A dry cloth does pretty well to clean it off, but not perfect.Wonderful book, and much better quality than I was expecting!

These books accumulate the lore/books present in the game and put it in a format that is a lot easier to consume. Generally when I'm playing the Elder Scroll games, I'm involved in the game and am reluctant to stop and read the stories though I'm very interested. Having them in a very nice bound form is really nice. I hope they do a lot more of these games. They put enormous effort into the lore of these games and it's nice to see them find another way to make a profit on it.

This is a must have for any die hard ESO fan. Upon arrival, the cover was more beautiful than I imagined. I almost didn't want to take the plastic off, but I did anyways and I'll confirm it, the hard cover is beautifully textured and feels almost like leather. The pages are thick and have a nice, sometimes difficult to read, font. But that's common with any true Elder Scrolls font. It lists the history of Tamriel in sequence of each faction. And looks amazing on a collector's bookshelf. Highly recommend!

Any Elder Scrolls lore fan needs these books in their collection. They are great quality, hardcover releases. The artwork in them is straight out of he game and I feel like I just completed a round of lore book hunting when I read them. Great read, great buy!

Excellent lore companion, both in terms of content and build. The product is very well built and durable, and as many others have said here, the content isn't necessarily original. Really, what you are getting here is a collection of in-game text (scattered throughout the world) and organized in a way such that it is easy to read and follow. With this lore companion, you can read the texts at your own speed, and not have to worry about reading the sections out of order and being confused. Highly recommend that any ESO fan pick this up if they are looking to learn more about the lore.

This was a really great read, full of fascinating facts and details about Tamriel. A must read for any Elder Scrolls fan!

An amazing look into Tamriel without having to hunt down every book. The flash fiction style short stories that are throughout the book and throughout the world add an awesome flavor to ESO. It's enjoyable even though I've stepped away from the game and don't plan on coming back. Bethesda is a master of storytelling, even inside and around their core storytelling.

Beautifully made, beautifully put together, I pre-ordered this item and have had it now for a day. It is a great item, just as you would expect from Bethesda, beautifully written in a gothic-style writing. A lovely item.This is a work of love by the authors and artists. If you are an Elder Scrolls nerd, fan nut, call yourself what you like, this book is a must-have - go get it and savour - you can dip into it whenever - that's obviously when your not actually spending all your time somewhere in Tamriel...A true collectors item and the first volume of many I hope. I better go and build another library in my mansion in Skyrim to house these beautiful editions - yes, I know... a true Bethesda nerd, sad indeed.The Skyrim Journals vol 1 out soon... a total no-brainer of course.

I held off on these for a while as I feared it would be a cash grab milking on the popularity of elder scrolls. How wrong was I. As all the other reviews describe the quality is brilliant and although the content is taken directly from in game books it's nice to have it all in one compendium along with some kick ass artwork. I will definitely be ordering more after I've saved some money but any elder scrolls fan interested in the rich lore of the series will enjoy these.

If you like the elder scrolls game then this is a worthy addition to your collect to get some background information. Will definitely be buy the other books in the collection.
