Charger now shows it is charging even when un hooked from battery. Red middle light won't illuminate thus protection is turned off. Now when the clamps touch each other they spark and all lights turn off until clamps are separated. Will check into warranty exchange. KeyLine Chargers KC-125-MPXP 12V 1.25 Amp. So far it has been working well. I let a new battery die below 2 volts for a couple of weeks and have been charging it for about 30 hours now, it's up to 12.99 volts. I did have to jump the battery from a good battery for 20 minutes or so to get this charger to start on it. My charger floats at 13.6 and holds it until unhooked. Desulphation didn't kick on when I first started charging. I had to run my dome lights to bring the battery down to about 11.5 volts and then it desulphated for about 5 seconds. In my opinion this isn't a good desulphator mode, I'd prefer it on all modes. Build is good for what it is. Small plastic housing, not amazing but better than usual wire connections to housing. Long power cable and even longer DC to battery cable which is nice. Gets hot at 133.4F on the top of the charger and 119F on the bottom. The lights like others have commented on are horrible. The company has stated the simple light signals are to keep the cost down, I understand but am not satisfied. Would have much preferred to pay a little more and have a better indicator system. Error signals are clear and easy to understand which is good. Desulphation mode is easy to read, quick flashing green charge light, no middle red, and solid green power. Now this is the crazy part, stages 2,3, & 4 (unless under 12v is detected in 4th stage) are exactly the same flashes so you have no clue what's going on during charging between desulphating and done charging given there are no errors during the charge. Overall I'm OK with this charger given the short time I've had with it. Although if you want the mental security of a good desulphator I may look elsewhere. Also where is this thing made?? I assume overseas but it doesn't say on the charger , box, instructions, or website? It appears the company is based in the USA so I will keep it unless it dies, but will probably be buying another brand as my main charger/maintainer. Will update as needed. Update: 4/9/17 - Charger has been going for 76.5 hours now!! But, the battery is up to 14.25 volts and still charging. Like I said earlier this was about a month old Sam's Club Duracell that was dead below 2 volts for at least 2 weeks. I assume at this point it is in the absorption stage since the temperature of the charger case has dropped from over 133F down to 95.6F. Update: 4/9/17 - Finished charging after 80 hours. Battery ended at 13.46 volts. Will see how it balances out later today. So far very happy, I wouldn't have imagined this battery would take a charge so well. 10 hours after being removed from charger voltage was at 13.16. 4/9/17 - Now I'm trying to restore an old 12v motorcycle battery that has been left to slowly discharge over about 2 years to 2.53 volts with no load. I tried to connect it to a car battery and couldn't keep the voltage above 6 volts, would drain quickly with just the volt meter hooked up. Next I hooked a small 12 volt 400ma transformer to it and have successfully gotten the Keyline to stay in desulfate stage for about 10 minutes. Would be crazy if it restored this battery at all. Will update as needed. Update: 4/11/17 - The charger has been hooked up and desulphating for a couple days on the motorcycle battery. The battery still isn't doing well but is up to 6.3 volts when removed from charger, much better than it was doing but not good. I don't blame this on the charger but the abused battery. Remember it was left dead over 2 years. Will keep it going and updating till I get bored or the charger returns an error. Update: 4/17/17 - Removed charger from motorcycle battery. Just wouldn't get past desulphation, definitely a bad battery.

Totally Worth It.....
I bought this charger solely for the purpose of maintaining & extending the service time of my vehicle's battery as I am a DIY person. It is because I am heavily reliant of my only vehicle (2007 Ranger 2wd Diesel) for work, play and emergency purposes. So, downtime for me was never an option. There aren't many chargers that could perform all the 5 functions like this one do at this price point. The value-for-money bargain was almost like a steal it was unbelievable. When it comes to operation, I must say, using this charger was as simple as connecting it to the car battery, let it run its job and the battery was charged and ran with new-like efficiency. I am planning to use this charger recharge the battery once every 20,000 km to keep the battery in a good shape for years to come. All and all, it is an item worthy to be kept in my personal garage and I truly recommend this charger to anyone who did their own auto repair.

Used this charger to charge a new battery purchased at ...
Used this charger to charge a new battery purchased at Wal-mart. Only used it once.. my review is based purely on a single use. Product works as described. Only time will tell if it will hold up to regular use. UPDATE* - 1/30/2020 Had to contact the manufacturer to start the process of a warranty claim. It was fairly simple. They just required my order number to verify the purchase date. Item quit working after only being used a few times. I actually had a need for it recently only to find out that it no longer work.. checked the fuses and outside of that I did not want to "open" it as that probably would have voided the warranty. I can attest to the fact that they do honor their warranty and for that reason I updated my review in the event you are on the fence between different chargers.

I think it's the best charger money can buy.
Super product. This is my second KeyLine 125-MPXP charger. I bought the first one two winters ago when my Harley Davidson battery maintainer, which cost more than twice what this one did, had a total melt down. This is the third winter that it'll be on the bike and I have complete confidence that I'll have full battery power in the spring. The charger comes with a connector wire that attaches to the battery screws and stays on the bike year round. When you want to boost up your battery the charger clips into this connector. I found a USB adapter cord on Amazon that clips into this connector allowing me to charge my cell phone while riding. The package also comes with the traditional clip on style batter connector which makes it easy to move the charger from one battery to another. I plan on using this one to maintain the battery in my riding lawn mower and a car that I'm storing in my garage.

Good product for 2 months--NO WARRANTY, NO SERVICE
I am very happy with the performance and compact, moisture resistant design. I hooked them up immediately to two different batteries that needed charging. Within 24 hours, each of the two chargers I ordered had charged it's respective battery and was in maintain mode. Indicator lights are bright and easy to see from a distance; the charge cable from the charger to the battery attachment location is very long, making it simpler to find a good location for the charger that is safe and convenient. I am a heavy user of this type of charger and have, to date, not found one that will last more than 2 years(1 year is typical) so time will tell regarding the quality of the device. So far, I give this 5 stars--good product, good price. UPDATE, June, 2016 I bought two of these for my many pieces of equipment--tractor, RV, Cars, etc--ONE is still working, the other failed at about 60 days. I wrote to the Mfg--NO response, too late to return to Amazon--one of the units is non-functional at this time. No abuse, no water exposure, proper care and use--obviously defective. Retrieved my owner's manual from the filing cabinet and found no warranty at all. UPDATE, August, 2016 The second of the two chargers I purchased has failed. Both are DEAD within 90 days. I have contacted the seller as of June, 2016-no response THESE ARE THE POOREST CHARGERS OF ALL I HAVE PURCHASED WITHIN THE PAST 6 YEARS--OTHERS HAVE GIVEN ME AVERAGE 2 YEARS OF USE (AND COST LESS)--BOTH OF THE TWO I PURCHASED HAVE FAILED WITHIN 90 DAYS AND HAVE NO WARRANTY, NOR DOES THE SELLER CARE ENOUGH TO RESPOND TO MY PLIGHT. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THESE CHARGERS. Based upon my experience, you have a 50/50 chance of having a long term functioning unit. I will resort to Home Depot and their Black and Decker unit that is 10 dollars cheaper and has a two year warranty... good luck with this unit if you buy it...

Small charger does one heck of a job.
Very pleased with this purchase! I have 3 vehicles and a generator. I had just bought a new battery for my truck. I did not return the "bad" one for core refund but instead thought it would be interesting to play with it. I put the charger/maintainer and after 2 days it signaled as being done. I took the new battery out of the truck and put the old one in. Almost miraculous results: it performs like new, It maintains a 12.7 vDC now, before it would drop down to 12.3 vDC overnight. The little battery on my 7 year old generator was useless. It took 2 days for the charger to do it's stuff and now it cranks and starts almost instantly. The charger's looks and size are not impressive but it does a wonderful job. Great item for home or light industrial use. Would make a great gift to any DIYer..

stay away, your batteries will thank you!
Update: Turns out I was wrong, charger took for ever to charge my battery because other chargers just indicated battery were full when they were not.....charger took 24hours pushing more juice in to them until finally went in to float mode at 13.4...only flaw I could see is that even in float mode charging led kept blinking maybe best to keep an eye with voltmeter..this is why I'm updating the stars rating from 1 star to only 3 and not 5..got me? He he anyway..absorb voltage was OK at 14.2...some people report that charger drains batteries however in the manual says that if after the charger charges the battery and then battery test goes under 12 v then the charger decides that the battery is bad and it simply quits charging therefore people come back and battery is flat dead...again this is only my theory.I was thinking at first to return this charger but I'll keep this charger around for what I like to call a polish charge, simply meaning that this will be the last charger I'll use when partially charging my batteries with the other chargers...example: recover a battery with my ctek then bulk charge the battery with a 10 amp smart charger just to speed things up a bit and finally when that charger says full my key line will come in to action for its snail dance ! :-) however be advised that charging a completely discharged battery with this little charger without letting a more powerful charger help with bulk and absorb would be a crime and would take for ever...but some battery experts would agree that that long path is better for batteries and a more efficient approach. You decide..as for me I wanted to have many chargers because I have an off grid home that my mom is living in and at least 2 times a year I remove her 8 batteries and put my 8 batteries in and then let all my chargers charge, equalize, recondition and diagnose them for me...equalization for batteries is so important since it is a 48v setup...I also help my batteries when they are connected 48v with a sukam 48 v equalizer from India....it has really helped a lot with keeping the 48v battery bank balanced...batteries have become so expensive that it is better to invest in preventive tools and chargers than to be replacing batteries all the time. battery analyzers for me have also become a necessary tool for my off grid battery diagnostics... It is better than the old load tester type since it puts no 100 amp load on the batteries (waste of solar power) since it just measures internal resistance and gives you ohms voltage and estimated CCA on a digital display depending on the brand and model you get... If you ask me what battery charger I recommend and the ones I don't well here is my list from the bottom up.. 8) extreme charge xp100p (rarely comes up to 100% charger just stays on 75% all the time stuck on absorb maybe my batteries are not compatible with its test method? Defective unit? I dont have a clue..) update: https://youtu.be/hddZsmdAypw 7) keyline ( charges batteries good but has the full led flaw, has to be baby sited with volt meter since users have reported battery draining but they may just have a bad battery so they may be wrong as I was at first. I can't say about battery recovery since my batteries are not that bad or discharged to activate this step) UPDATE: watch this video I posted https://youtu.be/o9--8RZsclQ 6) battery extender 3amp ( has battery recovery but no equalization nor pulse desulphation) 5) save a battery 3015 ( full time desulphation, however the green led on the unit sometimes turns off and I use to smack it so it turned back on I now know it must be a bad solder so I don't smack it anymore since I don't want to break it) 4) battery minder 2012 ( also full time desulphation, temp compensation) 3) ctek 4.3 ( this charger is great it has equalization function) 2) optimate 3 ( this charger has pulse charging and a great recovery mode and also the analyze step is a 12 hour test so its very good the bad is that it is only .8 amps however you can get a more powerful version if you've got the green) 1) battery doctor 20085 ( This is my absolute champion, it let's you select between calcium, gel or agm/flooded battery manually, it can equalize and also it has a push of a botton refresh function that desulphates the battery not with over voltage but with high frequency pulses it also the most powerful unit I have rated at 8 amps) I believe there is also a 16 amp version for a few more bucks... Old review: Keep your batteries away from this engineering disaster! First takes for ever to completely charge the battery overcharging the battery staying too much in bulk voltage. Then manual says it will let battery drain to 12v? Wtf? That's way to low! This charger is potentially a battery butcher! I have 6 other battery chargers stay away from keyline and the extreme charge xp100p I would recommend the optimate 3, save a battery 3015, ctek 4.3, battery doctor, battery minder 2012 and the battery extender 3 amp all good... Even the little optimate 3 800ma outperformed the 1.25amp key line crap!

ALL of the batteries work like new now
We have a 2002 F250 (2 batteries), a 5th wheel camper trailer (1 battery), a 23' cuddy cabin boat (2 batteries), a pop up tent trailer (1 battery), and also a small solar setup in the garage (4 batteries).. I purchased this charger mainly for its desulfating option. So far I have rejuvenated 4 deep cycle marine batteries (on my solar setup), 1 standard car battery (that my schmacher wouldn't charge), and both of the batteries in our F250. ALL of the batteries work like new now! The diesel truck starts like it's fully charged even after days of sitting.. the solar setup charges up to more capacity (approx. 12.4V to 13.9V), and since I replaced the single car battery with a new one (before I had this charger) now I have a spare! If you are being hesitant about buying this charger like I was... Don't be! It's worth it weight in gold! I highly recommend!
