Perfect for my intended use.
I just received this knife but I've been carrying Victorinox 91mm knives since I was a little kid. I know exactly what to expect from all of the tools but the combo tool as this is my first Compact. My impression of this knife is that it's very nice quality like every Victorinox I've ever had, and that's quite a few. I love them! I also carry a multi tool when I work. I'm director of photography and a gaffer for video production so the pliers are a must have for what I do. I've gone through a number of Leatherman products over the years. For several years I've been using a Wave or Charge AL with the bit kit and extender. Well I just don't like carrying those models because they are kind of heavy and most of the tools on them I just don't like as much as a SAK equivalent. I like the blade better and the scissors on the Wave/Charge tools is a total joke compared the Victorinox scissors. My solution was to get a lighter multi tool I wouldn't hate to carry so I got a Rebar. I like it as its smaller and lighter and I like the pliers better. Cool. I also got tiny Topeak Ratchet Rocket Lite bike tool that works perfectly with the Leatherman bit kit and is much more versatile than using the bit kit with the Charge. Cool. Then, I had to get a Vic Compact. I'd never given this model much thought until I got a Rebar. These two tools almost seem like a match made in heaven! The Rebar had great pliers and long dedicated drivers and a decent saw and file. The Compact adds the awesome scissors, a corkscrew, mini eyeglasses driver, tweezers, a freaking pen, and a blade I've always loved all in a tiny package! I'm very happy. For work, now it's the Rebar on my belt and the Compact in the pocket and the Topeak ratchet with bits and a few important sockets in the bag for field repairs to equipment. This makes a very compact and versatile tool kit! When not on set, I will still carry my Climber StayGlow or Huntsman for a little more versatility but the Compact is a very welcome addition. Anyone looking for a Leatherman Wave? LOL!

Small enough to carry large enough to use
The Victorinox Compact, Red, 91mm is an excellent Swiss Army Knife! Small enough to carry comfortably, yet it offers multiple useful tools that are durable and high-quality. The bright red color makes it easy to find, and the craftsmanship is top-notch, as expected from Victorinox. Perfect for everyday carry, outdoor adventures, or just having a reliable multi-tool on hand. Highly recommend!

A good EDC option that covers the basics
So I’ve been carrying and using Swiss Army knives since I was a boy in the scouts. I’ve had many different models over the years and I kept seeing people do reviews and talk about how great this knife was. I resisted purchasing one for a long time simply because I thought well I already have tools that have more on them or there’s cheaper options. But I managed to snag one of these when it was on sale and I have to say that I am very, very pleased with this model. It covers all the basics it has the superb scissors that frankly no one else can beat at least in terms of sharpness. there are some brands that have larger scissors, but these still in my opinion, cut the best. You still have your standard tools, but it also does comes with a little pressurized pen, which I didn’t think I would use it that much but there have been one or two times where I have misplaced my pen and it is nice just to have it there as a back up. I attached one of the little aftermarket dangler clips to the keychain and it fits perfectly in my pocket, I don’t know what I’ll use the pin for, but the little mini screwdriver is actually perfect to adjust my glasses. I almost would’ve preferred a Phillips screwdriver in place of the corkscrew as I never have the occasion open wine bottles at work, but Having the attached mini driver is a nice touch. The little file on the back of the hook is nice and all the other tools work just as well on the other Swiss Army knives. Now I’m not sure why it cost so much at regular price. I guess maybe it’s because of the pen but it’s a fantastic EDC pocket knife And you really can’t go wrong using it. so after many years of saying no I don’t need it, and I finally got one and I love it.

VICTORINOX CREATES ANOTHER GREAT KNIFE
I have been carrying a knife for40 years. I spent 30 years in the Navy and used knifes everyday for my job. No matter what big knife I carried, I also carried a small pocket knife. Victorinox has always been my go to knife; I have tried different knives and always return to the Swiss Army Knife. I have owned many different versions; Victorinox always mean quality to me. This time I wanted something a little lighter to carry with functions I commonly use. I use the blade, scissors and bottle opener most often. This blade came razor sharp and is easy to resharpen. The bottle/can opener puts two blades (or tools) into one blade. You have a medium screwdriver, bottle and can opener (Not to mention a wire stripper I have never used). On the old can opening there was a tip that was perfect for turning a number 2 Phillips head screw; this can still be done but takes a little work. There is a nail file on the back of the hook which is a nice feature when my wife needs a nail repair and uses the scissors and file. The corkscrew is a nostalgic relic from an age where there were no other options to open a wine bottle but it still finds other uses and now the mini screwdriver in the opener gives it a little more function. If you don't know what to do with the hook, don't worry, you will find it very useful for undoing knots, or holding items. They added an ink pen; I am not sure what to think about it but I guess it may come in handy sometime. And last, if you look in the handle where the corkscrew folds, you will find a pin. This is a great tool for many things including removing splinters. So in closing, Victorinox makes another great tool, perfect for shorts pockets or a woman's purse that has all of the items you could possibly need on an outing or at least when you are far away from the tool bench.

Perfect EDC knife
After reading tons of reviews on different knives and multi tools, I settled on the Compact because it fits my needs perfectly. This tool is compact and is just the right size! It’s amazing how often I use the toothpick and I have used the pin at three times since I got this over a month ago. The pin is perfect for clearing the tip of clogged lead on Pentel mechanical pencils. The scissors are super good and trim anything I put in front of them. (I never thought I would use scissors until these came along). The ball point pen has come in handy at least once and the tweezers have too. I keep forgetting I have an onboard pen so I would have used it more if it was on my mind. The knife is sharp and everything looks extremely well made and works smoothly. Very happy with this purchase. I plan on getting the Tortoise Gear Helix tinder and Fire Ant fire starter next which is one of the reasons I wanted the Compact. Not sure if I will ever be in an emergency where I need a fire, but I like the idea of being ready, just in case.

The Perfect EDC Tool
Let's see today I carried my SAK Compact and forgot it was in my pocket until... I used: 1. The MAIN BLADE to prep my breakfast and open some packages... 2. The CAN OPENER to open a can of tomatoes.. 3. The the CORK SCREW to open bottle of wine.. 4. The hook to pull hot grates off of my bbq grill and carry groceries in plastic bags from the store... 5. Use the toothpick to clean my teeth after some consumption of bbq ribs.. That's just what I used in one day...but with this knife I am fully capable of: Starting fire.. Whittling almost whatever I need to fashion or build.. Make a makeshift Compass Turn Flathead and Phillips screws... Scrape stuff Open a bottle of beer Sew clothing or a Shelter... Pick Splinters or Remove Ticks Sign Documents or Write a Note *And dozens of other emergency/or non-emergency edc tasks that I probably won't ever need to but can do with this incredible tool... At 2 oz. or whatever...this is the only tool you'll actually not be too lazy to carry with you everyday...which is why it's the perfect edc...for most needs and task especially in an urban or suburban environment...If you need to do more then you are probably not at your shop, garage, or near your vehicle where all your good tools are... in which case why would you carry a heavier load out with more crap on your knife? Planning on crash landing and exfiling yourself out of some remote location...ok more power to you but how many people actually do that everyday...the answer is most people don't so this is why this is the perfect edc...your milage may vary...

I wanted to love it, but the lack of Philips support is a major drawback
This model gets a ton of things right, but fell short for me in the long run. The slim size and the added pen, pin, and the mini-screwdriver in the corkscrew are great additions. The nail file on the back of the parcel hook is a brilliant bit of added usefulness, and I honestly wish they would make that feature standard on all models with the hook. The combo tool is a mixed blessing in that, while not having a dedicated can opener is not a major issue to me, losing the small screwdriver tip on the end of the can opener is a major loss, since it is sized well for both Philips and flat-head screws. This leaves the compact with extremely limited usefulness for turning screws. I would still recommend this over the Spartan or Climber due to the smaller size and the scissors, but I really wish Vic made a version with some kind of added screwdriver capability, either with a model with the T-handle Philips (fun fact, you can sometimes use the tweezers to turn eyeglass screws in a pinch), or even better, re-releasing the 3-layer Yoeman model with the in-line Philips and magnifier without sacrificing the corkscrew and mini-screwdriver. Until then, I'm stuck with either a tiny 58mm Manager model or jumping all the way to a hefty 4-layer Explorer model.

New Dad
Three things to keep in mind. I am a bartender, a banker and I have a 15 month old son. Between those three roles, which couldnt be more different, I developed a need to carry a pocket knife. I wanted something small, but there were some key features that I knew I couldn't live without, and that is when I found the Compact. With the baby, I needed a knife and scissor for peeling fruit, cutting open toys, or even trimming the occasional loose string. In the bar, I absolutely needed the bottle opener and corkscrew, plus a blade for breaking down boxes. In the office, the knife and scissor become a godsend when dealing with mundane paperwork. Put it all together, combined with simple fact that I didnt want anything huge riding in my pocket, and the Compact becomes the perfect EDC for my needs. To break it down, the knife comes with one knife (many SAKs offer two blades, but I dont need the extra thickness nor do I need to widdle or seperate knife functions), a pair of scissors (life savers), a combo bottle/can opener/flat head (this all in one works VERY well, can be used in a pinch to soft tighten a philips, and by combining the bottle/can they eliminated the need for extra row of thickness), a corkscrew (also great with kids because it can be used to untie stubborn knots), a carrier hook (everyones least favorite tool but in this model the carrier hook also has a NAIL FILE, so I prefer to look at it as a nail file that happens to have a carrier hook) and what i like to call the "goodies." The "goodies" include a tooth pick, a pair of tweezers, a ball point pen, a straight pin, and a small eyeglass screwdriver twisted into the corkscrew. All of these are great little bonuses. As a father, having a pin and tweezers to help pull a spliter from a crying toddler's finger on the playground is nothing short of golden. The eyeglass screwdiver is great around the office, and works well to help clean your nails (add this to the file, and it saves the space of adding a dedicated nail file to the mix). Even the pen comes in handy, and when you lift the "useless hook" you can tuck the pen in the gap, close the hook, and it feels and acts much more like an actual pen. I ordered it in black and it really feels like a gentleman's pocket knife. It has absolutely everything I need in a pinch and it rides almost weightless in any pocket. I am not an outdoorsman, so I dont need all the extras. I am not a handy man, so I dont need a tool box in my pocket either. If I need a philips head, I go get a philips head. For the twice a month when I need a dedicated tool, I have them in a tool box where they belong, not in my pocket taking up space. This knife has all the tools I need combined with a thin two layer design that actually makes it easy to carry. From the office to the BBQ, from the playground to the bar, I could not ask for a better knife.

Great.
Has the tools I wanted and sized appropriately enough to carry in my pocket. My other knives are much bigger because they have more tools.
