From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the grand live-action adventure Dumbo expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V. A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside the charming and spectacular aerial artist Colette Marchant (Eva Green)—until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets. Elephant Heist Backstage A Seat At The Show Easter Eggs On Parade Clowning Around "Baby Mine" Performed By Arcade Fire Review: Fantastic movie. However, you need to understand what you're watching. - I absolutely loved this movie. Wonderful update that still stays true to the original, but with added storyline. HOWEVER, I've heard and seen too many comments about this not being a children's movie and this movie being dark. First off it's Tim Burton, DUH!!! Also, the reality is the way animals were/are treated in a circus is dark and violent. Obviously in the original it's easy to just see it as a cute cartoon, but here they made it look very lifelike and I can see how that may add to the trauma, especially for kids. I don't know if I'd recommend for all children, depends on level of maturity. With all that said, I still highly recommend the movie. If you love Tim Burton, you'll love this. If you love elephants, you'll love this. If you loved the original, you'll love all the nods to parts of the original (storks, Casey Jr song, pink elephants, jerks in audience, clowns, mouse, etc). Definitely worth a watch... Or a purchase so you can watch on repeat like I intend to! Haha <3 Review: Great Deal - Came as described by seller. Brand new. Well packaged and fast delivery. High quality disc.

Sweet Movie
To see Michael Keaton back in a Tim Burton film, I did keep waiting for him to do some nod to the best Batman. This is a very sweet film, and the CGI is wonderful. It is still a sweet story about the bond between mother and child. I just tear up when his mother is in chains, I found the original version just as hard to watch, but I was 4, now in my 40s. Danny DeVito is very charming, so is the whole idea of the troupe. Sometimes we all need a feather.

Oh come on, it's not that dark
Yes, it is dark. But the cartoon featured kid friendly things like animal torture, bullying, getting high/drugs, and implied racism. Dumbo has more friends in this version, so the story is actually happier just with less songs and a mature color scheme. The humor won't make you guffaw, but is still charming. The Land Before Time is much darker than this movie. Tone wise it's comparable to Edward Scissorhands. CGI can be hit or miss, especially with animal characters. Here, it's very much a hit. Dumbo is absolutely adorable and extremely expressive. The human cast is ok, Sharon Rooney does a really good job at playing the mermaid and singing "Baby Mine". The sets are amazing, definitely have the Tim Burton touch. Definitely worth watching, even with your kids.

Feedback
Decent movie. I watched because I love the classic cartoon. The movie is a better fit for children but was still moderately entertaining.

Wonderfully Done
I had very low expectations of this film, due to the negative reviews. I thoroughly enjoyed it. What's not to like? "I seen an elephant fly"! It's a Disney Flick - Spoiler Alert.....it's not real!!!!!!!!! It is fantasy and imagination just for fun and entertainment. It is sweet and enjoyable just as it should be; with just the right amount of nostalgia and darkness, for those that appreciate Disney and Disneyland of old; done in a new way, for the next generation ......well done!!! Note: I did adjust my monitor, because I thought some parts were to visibly "dark" for my liking.

Love It!
When I was little I remember watching the original Dumbo from Disney and it was not my favorite. The two things that I did loved about it was the elephants were set free and also it had a message in about embracing what makes you different. This version, I loved from beginning to end. It even had parts that made me cry. A lot of people have said that this movie was very dark...So was the original. In the original, Dumbo was bullied from the moment he was born from the other elephants. They tried to hide his ears and that right there was a sign that he wasn't accepted for the way he was. All the animals were caged up most of the time. In my opinion, this new version showed just how dark the original really was. I prefer this version over the original. Great storyline and I love how the introduced each actor into the movie. I love the actors that they chose for each role.

Was, myself, brought up watching Disney classics such as the 1941 version of Dumbo....a movie that still has the charm today as it always has. Disney again revisiting an old favourite - The film receiving mixed responses from many critics, some saying despite its brilliant visual content it lacked the 'soul' brought to the screen of its 1941 original. All I can say having now watched it, is, see it for yourself, I believe the majority will love it. Returning to his family, Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) after the war (it's now 1919) with the loss of his left arm, he finds that his wife had died during a flu-epidemic, his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) had been cared for by his fellow circus family headed by friend and owner Max Medici (Danny De Vito) Holt, can no longer do the horseback entertainment he once did and is offered the job of caretaker. The circus has fallen on hard times, Max, looking for extra attractions had bought an elephant Jumbo who turns out to be pregnant.....well, when born a baby elephant would attract interest. However, when Jumbo Jnr arrives he has unusually large ears, Max isn't sure of its potential. However, Holt's children take to the young elephant and play with it, when taunting Jumbo Jnr with a feather the young elephant leaves the ground chasing it, when Milly and Joe try to tell their father what happened he, of course, dismisses it. However, the young elephant is introduced to the circus ring helping te clowns put out a staged fire but becomes trapped many feet above the stage, Milly climbs the ladder with a feather in hand, this tempts Jumbo Jnr now renamed Dumbo after an earlier incident to fly away from the danger. Meanwhile in an incident whereby mum Jumbo only protecting her child is seen as out of control and will be sold back to her previous owner, minus the young elephant of course. News travels fast, entrepreneur and theme-park owner V. A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton) along with partner and trapeze artist Colette Marchant (Eva Green) turn up to see the spectacle for themselves. Vandevere soon offers Max a partnership and a home for his troupe, however, the entrepreneur only has his eye on the dollars young Dumbo can earn for him, and will not prove a reliable associate. At the theme park, it is discovered that Dumbo's mum is there, a chained-up attraction, Dumbo pines for the mother he'd been cruelly separated from, will they now be reunited? ....not if Vandevere has his way they won't. With much drama to come, will there be a happy ending for young Dumbo? An enjoyable watch that those remembering the charm of the original should avoid making comparisons. A truly great family watch - enjoy.
