Couldn’t plant in clay soil without this. Heavy-duty. I have used this vigorously and it never disappointed. It drills fast and move small rocks out of the way. Digs holes fast and battery last a long time. It’s been three years of use and no issues. It’s worth the investment.

Update: after contacting the manufacturer they determined that the issue was a bad battery and sent me a replacement battery free of charge. The drill has worked great for well over a year now and I am definitely getting my money’s worth out of it. You need this if you’re digging a lot of holes or planting a lot of plants. I bought this drill in July and use it with a 7" auger to drill holes to plant plants (1 gallon). It started out doing great. But I noticed with each use it seemed to last less time. The last time I used it, I was only able to drill 3 holes. I charged the battery for several hours and put it back on the drill. The next day the drill would not power on. I put the battery back on the charger and the lights on the charger are not lighting up nor charging. I moved it to a different outlet (fingers crossed) and still not charging. This is way too much money for this thing not to last 3 months. Update: I contacted DeWalt and had a very difficult time communicating with the support person. I could not understand their VERY thick accent and they couldn't understand my slight :-) South Ga. accent. Finally after several attempts at providing personal information they were able to confirm the battery was under warranty and I should receive a new battery in 2 WEEKS! Apparently Covid has permanently disrupted shipping?! Very disappointing in both the product and the resolution time.

Over the years I've bought all kinds of drills to lift my trailer jacks. Every product, even very large cordless drills, would not have enough torque to actually lift the weight of my 4,000 lb trailer off the ground. I get that normally you're not supposed to do that, and jacks should only be used to stabilze and not lift, but we boondock camp off road on rough uneven terrain and hills which requires this to get it level. Normally the drills will get the feet on the ground and maybe get a little lift, but I always have to resort to cranking manually which has repeatedly been ripping the tendons in my elbows and backlashing my wrists resulting in joint injuries. I've looked for a number of power jack lift options and nothing other than converting to hydraulic jacks, which wouldn't fit the configuration and high-lift of my trailer anyway, would offer a solution that would be substantially different, and would end up costing $1,000 or more. I finally did the research on drills and landed on this one. Torque specs were lacking but several sources said it was higher than the Milwaukee. I took a chance and bit the bullet on price. It was still the cheapest viable option anyway, but holly molly this is a chunk of change for a drill. Well, turned out it was a great decision. It is easy to control the speed to keep from damaging the jack screws, and even top speed, while not ideal, is probably not likely to result in damage. The chuck key clips on the side securely to keep from getting lost. With the handle installed there was no particular torque on my arms, wrists or elbows. My jaw dropped and I started laughing when it never even seemed to strain even the slightest and lifted the trailer wheels entirely off the ground with only one jack leg in a couple seconds, and no backlashing whatsoever. The 6ah battery should be plenty for a couple trips, but if going on an extended trip with lots of stops the 12ah would probably be a better option unless AC power is available for charging. At around $300 for the 12ah battery it's a complete rip off. There are after market batteries that have generally poor reviews so I guess you buy several cheap ones or spend the extra to get the Dewalt if you need it to actually work reliably. I guess it is what it is. Given how easily this lifted the trailer I'm guessing the lower torque Milwaukee might have worked well enough, but I ruled it out because it didn't have the kickback brake feature. I wouldn't want to risk even more serious injuries with a higher torque drill kicking back with a long handle that might break bones or something. This also charges really fast, BUT a fan kicks on during the initial fast charging cycle. It does turn off after an hour or so, but man is it loud. It's like a hair dryer. I'm glad it's there to cool the charger and battery but wouldn't want to have it in the room with me if I could avoid it. The case is nice to keep everything together but it is not large enough to keep the battery on the drill. You have to take the handle and battery off, and install a cap over the battery contacts to avoid shorts that could damage the battery or cause a fire or something. Not a big deal but it would have been nice to be able to just pull it out ready to use rather than setting it up and breaking it down all the time. The drill is a big boy and moderately heavy, but still managable. Simply put, this is the most powerful drill I have ever used, corded or not. I haven't tried, but I doubt even my large AC mortar mixing drills would have handled this so effortlessly and this is much smaller and lighter than those, in addition to being cordless. All in all this is a fabulous solution and my only regret is that I didn't buy this sooner. Question is whether I'll feel the same way when I have to spend another $150 when it comes time to replace the battery, gulp. Cheaper than a hospital or lifelong injuries I guess.

I bought this drill to use with a good-sized earth augur. My regular 20v drill wouldn't handle it. This is a big and powerful drill and is overkill for most things that one would use a cordless drill for, but it's just dandy for what I bought it for and works like a dream. It's been really helpful in the garden for planting, because my soil is not very good, mostly clay with lots of rocks and roots.

This DeWalt is a beast. Works great to drill holes all the way up to the 12” level. As an avid gardener I drill planting holes, and the work is a snap. Drilled 100 4” holes in 15 minutes to plant annuals. Recommend this to everyone that does planting.

Mixing thinset thick was an issue as the drill would stop if there was too much resistance. It's nice to have on a new construction site for thinner muds, but I couldn't mix 4:1 at all and had to resort to my Makita cordless drill. There is a mixer DeWalt makes that has the torque and speed controls, but it's nearly $1500 and seems to only be available in India.

We use this drill with a 36x3" solid steel auger bit to plant thousands of flower plugs in our garden installs. Lots of native plants for a layered meadow look. Drill never overheats and takes clay like a champ. I bought a few $$$ extra batteries for longer days, and should probably get a 2 or 4 slot charger for on site charging -- but each battery lasts a good while -- maybe 500+ plugs? (Plugs are 2" wide and 3-4" deep.) I have the corded version, too, and it works just as well but not as handy obviously.

already had a 60 v battery as a Father’s Day gift then got the mixer and battery for a good deal. Was on a job site with no power so this mixer worked great. Also it seems to spin faster than my corded mixer - which I haven’t used since I got this Also I like the Fast Charger that came with it. Charges a dead 60v battery in less than an hour usually
