Got this as a new home for our syrian hamster. The first cage we had for him was easily less than half this size and just too cramped for the little guy. It's very spacious with small spacing between bars, perfect for him. We have a 10" wheel inside and could easily fit a 12" (and more for that matter). He loves the cubby under the platform and he's a burrower so we put in lots and lots of bedding (the bottom tray is really deep so it's perfect for this!) and he is so happy now! We use the platform for food/water and even put a little sand bath tucked under the platform that he loves to play in. Highly recommend for bigger hamsters! He's very noticeably happier in the bigger home. More energetic, more curious, more interactive. It's great!

I love that this is one of the few cages available that meet the minimum for a hamster enclosure. Mine seem to love it.My only suggestion is if they could make one with a deeper pan for more bedding atleast 8-10"

Please do not buy there is a gap between the front of the cage and the side and regarding This might work for a Syrian my Robo escaped last night and was dead.If you still wish to buy consider getting Chicken mesh for those areas.
