Great bathtub spout, but how Amazon shipped it marred it.
We previously had this Delta polished brass bathtub spout with diverter in our guest bathroom for 10+ years. Three years ago we had to replace it and did so with DANCO's version which was approximately $18. The DANCO lasted only 3 years before it corroded and the diverted stopped diverting the water for the shower. I purchased this Delta one from Amazon knowing it was better made; however, I've had to return it. For some reason Amazon shipped it in a unpadded envelope without any bubble wrap. The only thing protecting the polished brass finish was the thin plastic on the manufacturer's packaging. The finish on the spout arrived with multiple scuff marks that I am quite sure it received during transit. The Delta spout is easy to install and lasts for years, but do not buy it from Amazon.

Easy to install. Included Teflon tape as well as adapters.
The reach is about 1/4" less than the original so it doesn't come up flush to the wall with my existing pipe. This is minor since the water doesn't flow in that part of the faucet anyway. If I was annoyed by it I'd remove my original pipe and put in a shorter piece. It was easy to install, fitting perfectly on my existing pipe. It included the Teflon tape so I didn't have to provide my own. The divertor works smoothly. No leaks. It took me more time to look at the directions than to do the install.

This product works as expected, but is more complicated to install due to it being a universal fit. On the Delta slipon diverter I was replacing the o-ring seats a few inches off the wall and the screw that clamps the diverter to the pipe is next to the wall. The builder had tightened the clamp screw denting the copper pipe. With this universal diverter the small brass fitting contains the o-ring and clamps to the copper pipe against the wall. Unfortunately the o-ring seats in exactly the same location that the previous diverter's set screw had dented. This resulted in a leak the first time I turned the shower on. I ended up using RTV with the brass fitting to form a gasket to fix the dented copper pipe. Since both of these were designed by Delta you would think they would take into account that the mounting location of the other style diverter would interfere with the universal replacement.

Universal - included adapters for multiple types of tub spouts
I needed the type that was threaded near the diverter (spout end). This product included silicone pipe tape and was easy for me to install. There was and adapter included that would move the threads back to the wall end if you only have a short pipe sticking out from the wall. You may want to consider also purchasing an escutcheon plate to take up any space between the spout and wall. Spout & diverter work as intended (although water does come out a bit sputtery and not in a solid straight down stream, but most importantly no water leaks out the bottom when the diverter is pulled up for the shower.)

Perfect Fit - Everything You Need
This was an easy swap and perfect fit, replacing an old unit whose diverter valve had failed. It includes adapters Teflon tape, and a key tool in the set.Good unit, made this a 4 minute job. Highly recommended.2016-06-06 UpdateI ordered a second one of these units for another bath. Just like the first (which still works fine), this one fit perfectly and works great. Many adapters, fittings, etc are included should you have an unusual installation requirement.

The spout itself looks nice, and does not leak when diverted to the shower. The plastic adapter was universal in that it provided enough attachments to meet almost any pipe that was already in place, but being plastic it was not particularly sturdy. I ended up going to a home improvement store to buy a 3/4 to 1/2 brass adapter and a 2 inch brass nipple to make this work, but it was still better an less expensive than any other options.

This is the same as the Danco spout, for $17.30
I ordered the Danco spout, put it on, and it came up about a 1/4" short. So I order this one, since everything else I have is Delta brand. It is the exact same thing, except in a different package, with a higher price.I have no idea if the quality or plating is better, and will last longer, as I didn't bother to install it, and am returning it, since 1), I can get it cheaper, and 2) to make it fit, I am going to have to modify the copper stem pipe.

be careful installing
I have the 1/2 inch copper pipe, so used the slip-fit connection. The instructions have you cut off the end of the plastic adapter that screws into the actual spout near the tip, and if you are not careful cutting off that part with a hacksaw, you may damage the threads, making it useless. I barely was able to get it together with no leaks.

Water does not seem to come out straight down. Water spray pattern is a bit sporadic and often makes a mess.
