John Jacobson's Riser Choreography (a Director's Guide for Enhancing Choral Performances)

This book gave me a ton of different ways to get my students onto the risers... which, in my mind, isn't really choreography! At the end of the day, I still had to make up the moves for my winter program from scratch. This really seemed to dwell more on placement on the risers than actual movement. Seems due for an update, John Jacobson!

I got this book because I have been assigned to work with our male chorus to help them become more expressive and improve our visual entertainment. I only found a couple of books that I thought would apply. This one was very elementary and more fitted to high school show choirs, not the adults with whom I'm working. So, the book wasn't much use to me.

Very little choreography suggestions and more about getting on the risers. Not helpful at all.

This is helpful for any band director teaching chorus for the first time.

Hoped there were more individual moves, but very helpful.
