Q: Will this fit my asus rog g551jw? Ive bought one other caddy but it didnt fit so i want to know for sure before i buy it this time.

There are fundamentally two types of caddies: normal and thin. Using the one or the other dipends on the computer model you have. If you need a thin one then a normal one will not fit and viceversa, if you need a normal one the thin one will just move around in it. My suggestion though is to buy a HDD with more memory and leave the rest as it is as removing the bazel door to put it on a caddy often means compromizing it. The solution you are willing to take is when you decide to change your hard drive with a low memory SSD... therefore you often need to recycle your old hard drive in a caddy for ensuring yourself to have the possibility of storing big data.D.

Q: what is the largest capacity drive this can handle? I had a different caddy that could only old a 500 meg drive.

I only installed a 500 meg. Dont have a larger drive to test it. But it works flawlessly.

Thanks for Asking. Yes, it will. The ASUS S46 is using a 9.5mm Optical drive, this is the right kit for it.

well isn't there a screw to release the current DVD/CD-RW drive and then it should slide out from the side. I mean even if you have to remove (most likely the memory cover or it's near a label) to get at the screw. The (12.7mm) or the (9.5mm) relates to the thickness of the hard drive or SSD you'll be using, the tray ought to be the same size as the DVD/CD-RW you'll be replacing. Also always power down the laptop before any work is to be done so as not to damage anything or loose any data.

Misaligned screw holes

The holes where you screw in to the enclosure to secure it are misaligned, the screws don't sit flush with the case because of this.Other than the misalignment, everything else is working fine.

small and very fiddly screws "not good", there is no reason the screws cannot have bigger heads on them.
