I am certainly excited about the potential for these to freeze fruits and mint and such in ice cubes for beverages and cocktails
Definitely took a chance on these because of the low price and my curiosity about round ice. I am certainly excited about the potential for these to freeze fruits and mint and such in ice cubes for beverages and cocktails but they're so easy to fill WRONG and end up with the unattractive little peg on the side where the ice forms through the hole at the top to fill the molds. Also, when trying to avoid overfilling, it's difficult to gauge how much water you've already poured in without lighting the molds from the bottom or side (read: I lay a flashlight next to the molds when filling to help prevent filling with too much water).Either way, it's a good enough deal for your money and unless you're anal about the little ice peg that forms when filled with too much liquid the molds work just fine.

while I like large, round ice balls for my drinks
These molds are ok, but I wouldn't likely purchase them again. Difficult to fill, often have a ridge around the middle or a nipple on top.Additionally: while I like large, round ice balls for my drinks, I think I have come to prefer cubes for smaller pieces of ice.

Cool shape but I could never fully get rid of the rubbery smell. And the product tends to absorb other smells too.

and your first set will be terrible, but practice makes perfect
This works as expected and produces the exact size sphere I was looking for. It is a little tricky to get right, and your first set will be terrible, but practice makes perfect. My only concern is that the silicone between each sphere could be a little stiffer so as to not leave as much of a line between each cavity, hence the reason for 4 stars. I have a side by side fridge, so I like the fact that the molds have a small footprint. The last thing is to make sure you have some small funnel or spout to fill these molds as the hole is quite small. After filling, press in the middle to expel any remaining water into the cavity and be sure not to fill the cavity all the way to the top so as to not leave a stem. Remember from science class that water expands when freezing. Great product!

Disappointed in the poor seal between layers
Just an ordinary consumer here, who happens to be on the fancy-ice-cube trend currently raging, and I've been buying a lot of different ice trays lately. After having good results with the Arctic Chill Ice Sphere Tray , I tried this for a more appetizing color than the ugly black Arctic tray, since aside from the color they appear identical in the pictures. However, these Kuuks have an inferior design. If you look closely at the pictures for this product, you'll see that the pieces fit together with just flat surfaces facing each other at the sphere equators, but if you look at the Arctic you see that there are flanges around the equators. It's the flanges that result in a tight seal on the Arctic, which is lacking on these. As you add water and fill the Kuuks, the layers begin to separate, and you have to push them back together. When removing the ice from the trays, there is a lot of wasted ice that falls off in chips. And the equators on my ice balls are rough, nothing like the glass or acrylic balls shown in the picture here.

So much better for a drink than "normal" ice cubes
Fun for your scotch, bourbon, rye, whiskey, soda or even just water.I wanted to get these after a friend told me about them for use in bourbon and scotch as a fun way to chill the drink without watering it down as quickly as "regular" ice. Have to say that I am enjoying these. The ball comes out about 1.75" in diameter, and fits wonderfully in a tumbler. The large sphere will melt more slowly than regular ice from an ice machine. As for how well these work... they are great so far, though it takes a little trial and error to make the balls perfectly. I've noticed that if you just fill through 1 hole, you can fill all 4 spheres. The hole in the top allows excess water to escape, and allows the ice to expand from liquid water when freezing. This meant that my first 4 ice balls had little legs on them... which were easily removed. The next set I didn't fill quite as high and the balls came out with smaller legs... that I also removed. So while there is a little bit of an art form to making perfect spheres... even if they aren't perfect they are a lot of fun and are sure to get the attention of your party guests. As with other large ice cube trays, you can experiment with fruits or mint inside the ice ball if you like.I also reviewed the kuuk silicone ice cube tray twin pack, which has also worked admirably.I can't tell yet how they last over time, but for now, these are easily replacing "normal" ice for my drinks.

Three Stars
the ice balls are cool, but it's very hard to know when it's filled properly.
