Ladakh: the Essential Guide: Including Kashmir & Manali (2014) Paperback – May 1, 2018

Very happy to have purchased this guide, especially as there are few other dedicated guidebooks on Ladakh and it is also reasonably currentFull of detailed information about the culture and important places in the area, with good information also about transport, accommodation and restaurants. The photos and the paper used are also of high quality. My one complaint is that the quality is so good I don't want to write notes in it!

Good book if you are looking for background on the monasteries. Some information on travel logistics (hotels, etc.) but other guides are better for such information. I've been to Ladakh twice already so I am familiar with the area. This book takes over where the big names leave off.

The author gives you very useful information for the trip to Ladakh and Kashmir. Very good pictures! A must for the traveler to high country!

I drove alone to Leh and the Ladakh region, and amongst the many books and travel literature I had, the best, most informative, the most detailed - without being verbose- was this book. For the traveller, the curious visitor- the landscape is so, so different, that you will be overwhlemed by it.Read the previous night on the gepgraphy, the geology, the rivers, the valleys, the mountains, temples before venturing out to see the same. For the price, its a very wise investment to draw out the best rather than to be caught staring at the beauty of nature without knowing what the 'deal' is. This is by far the best book to describe the Ladakh region I have seen. It has much more detail than other guide books.
