La Crosse Technology 925-1418 Sensor Protection Shield with Mount

This temperature sensor sun shield has performed exceptionally well for me. I’m using it with a custom-built sensor, and its versatile design makes it compatible with nearly any type of sensor. Mounting options are plentiful, allowing for easy installation in a variety of setups. The shield is a simple yet well-made plastic device that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. For the price, it would have been nearly impossible to fabricate something of comparable quality on my own. Since installing it, the shield has effectively protected my sensor from direct sunlight, significantly improving the accuracy of my outdoor temperature readings. Overall, this product delivers excellent performance at a reasonable price. Its quality, functionality, and value make it an easy recommendation.

Very practical. I lost my first sensor leaving it out in the rain. oops. I was happy to find this product. It's made for the La Crosse sensors, so they place easily into the unit. Easy to install. And it's also quite stylish, if that matters. And the protective body does not interfere with a good signal to the inside base unit.

Finally get accurate readings not affected the sun or other elemental factors. Love it. Should have bought this years ago!

This seems to be the only product designed for weather station outdoor thermometers. Since moving into our new house a few years ago, I haven't been able to find a place to put the thermometers that feed data to my bedroom and master bathroom clocks. We had a roof covered pool patio to mount them in that kept them out of the sun and dry. I came across the new La Crosse Sensor Protection Shield while looking for a replacement thermometer until that had gotten drenched in a rainstorm. The La Crosse Technology 925-1418 Sensor Protection Shield does the job but is not substantial. It is made out of thin white plastic that may be adequate for the job it performs but you don't want to bump into it as it could snap off its wall mounting bracket. The bottom of the shield unit can be removed with a quarter turn making it handy to replace the thermometer's batteries when necessary. I mounted mine so that the bottom is at head level making it unlikely that I bump into it with my shoulder when walking by its location. The La Crosse Technology 925-1418 is designed to take one thermometer by I was able to put both in its housing by zip tying the temperature units together. So far, so good as the thermometers accurately cast the outside temperature to their respective clocks and are protected from weather and the sun's radiated heat influence.

I have a La Crosse Alerts temperature, humidity, and probe sensor to measure and report on the water temperature of my hot tub via a probe on a long wire and environment around my hot tub. Before I bought this, the environmental temperature and humidity readings were not very useful during the day, as the sun would beat down on the sensor unit, corrupting the temperature and humidity. It would often report temperatures well over 100F, even though it was only about 70F and sunny, and since the humidity calculations depend on local temperature, those were also skewed very low the sunnier it was. Once I installed this enclosure and placed the sensor unit inside, I get much more reasonable values for the readings, and it also provides protection from precipitation. Since the sensor had openings to allow air inside for measuring humidity, rain can also get in there and really mess things up. This prevents that. The hot tub used to be covered by a structure, but the wood supports rotted and I had to take it down before it fell down, so it was now open to the rain. This enclosure is now the sensor's weather protection. The enclosure comes in three pieces (not counting the mounting screws). There is a vertical bracket that mounts to a structure, (in my case, the side panel of the hot tub, but it could be a post, tree, side of the house, etc.). This plastic bracket is mounted with the four provided screws. The enclosure slides into the bracket and is made of two pieces. One is a cylinder with vents to allow air flow, and with an open bottom, with a bottom circular piece that is attached via tabs and slots to the bottom of the cylinder and rotated to lock in place. The bottom panel had a hole, designed to accommodate the cable and connector of the probe for the La Crosse Alerts unit. I ended up drilling the hole slightly larger to fit an additional slightly larger probe through the hole from a sensor by a different manufacturer. Since the enclosure is sturdy plastic, it was a simple matter to drill the existing hole to make it a bit larger to fit the additional fatter cable.

Awesome sensor protection shield with mount included. This is what we needed years ago with our 1st weather station system. It protects the outdoor sensor, to give longer lasting life to it. You can easily apply it to a deck or pole and you can easily slide the shield off, to change sensor batteries when needed. If you have an outdoor weather station sensor, you need this shield to keep it lasting years longer. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! NOTE! weather sensor is NOT included

Excellent protector for weather wireless stations units, it wel made, sturdy, right size , easy to use and install, maybe a bit pricey, but we got our with an special offer and it is good value for money.
