Scratch and Discover World Atlas

kind of funny but true! we got this thinking it was a great deal plus we were planning to do a lesson plan per country or continents etcFirst page I asked my daughter how was it? she said "its ok" not excited so that was a hint because we both were super excitedShe asked if she could continue next day because it was too hard... she scratched 3 "pictures" and thats it! her hand was hurting.I tried it myself and after my second picture I was tired to scratch and scratchit could be that we are not used or may be our book was "hard to scratch" however are plan is to just scratch one picture at a time - i guess the good thing about it is that we will discover world atlas is a very long period of time.

There are two ends to the scratch tool. The small end is too difficult but the large end worked fine for my kindergartners to scratch off each image. They have enjoyed finding the surprises underneath and it has provided quite a bit of entertainment while traveling in the car. The only reason I took off one star was because it is kind of a short book with not a lot to it besides the novelty of scratching off and finding the images.

Impossible to scratch off for kid OR parent. So frustrating! Thought this was going to be a great Christmas gift for my adventurous daughter, and she was so excited to get at it, but after lots of scratching, we just felt like we were ruining the book. My husband finally discovered that dipping that scratching stick in water helps a little, but it’s messy and still not easy.

Ordered this as a gift for my 5 year old. She was really excited for the interactive factor of being able to "scratch and find". Unfortunately it was very difficult for her to scratch and she just ended up frustrated. We tried a penny too and that didn't seem any better. When I tried to help I was finally able to get some of it scratched off, but it also ended up tearing the page because I had to press so hard. I also didn't like that the wooden tool was packaged onto one of the pages and in order to remove it you had to tear the page. Overall, not impressed. It could have been really fun if it was executed better.

I finally figured out a trick with nail polish remover.

I don’t know if I just got a bad product but my child easily got frustrated. We tried using the pencil stick to scratch off the discoveries and it was soo hard. Tried using a coin to scratch off and it was way too difficult. I let my husband try it in the event it was just me and he really had to put strength into it.

It doesn't work, you can't scratch it off. We bought this for our daughter to use for part of her geography class, and it is unusable. Total waste of time and money.

The book itself is nice quality and lovely photos. The scratch part is infuriating and frustrating for me and the little ones.

Beautiful book but ruined by the fact you can’t scratch off the black. Real shame.

So much potential, such a lovely book but DOESN'T WORK! Scratching off the black is almost impossible to do without ripping the pages, so frustrating.
