What is the difference between a pf63. pf63e and a pf63f. i read somewhere that the e & f are just cheaper versions of the 63?

The older PF63 has a by-pass pressure of 12 PSI. The newer ecore PF63E has a bypass pressure of 22 PSI. If your application calls for the 63E and runs at a higher oil pressure, it's possible the classic 63 might run with the bypass open, allowing unfiltered oil through.

What vehicle does pf63e fit

3.6 VVT GM engines. GM engineering recommends this re designed PF63”e” filter for their 3.6 because it has a higher flow rate and higher pressure by pass valve. Aftermarket filters don’t have the same spec. Sad because you’re limited to the AC Delco filter for this engine. I’m a Wix or Hastings guy. Those are excellent filters for just about everything else on wheels. The 3.6 VVT is an excellent engine, but it is oil flow and lubrication sensitive. Cam chains can be prone to failure due to lubrication issues. So Do not wait for the oil reminder light to come on. It’s wait between oil changes intervals is to long. The OLM minder light intervals are nothing but a dangerous sludge maker. The GM 3.6 is a 3k (5k with synthetic oil) changer! It is very important to use a Dexos certified oil and a PF63 “e”. There is also a PF 63, do not use. The PF 63 e is a redesign to remedy flow problems. Both filters will fit, but the “e” is totally different inside. It has a streamlined plastic cage to retain the filter media and a redesigned bypass valve. The other is and older style metal retainer and thick paper media with less flow
