Remington Gun Cleaning and Maintenance Mat

I bought this for when I clean my rifleI think it is a decent product for what I paid for it. Front side material is like felt cloth off a pool table. Not bad at all. The backside is plastic wrapping which is decent and durable for what I use it for. I like that they put the plastic on the back so if I drop any cleaning oil or what not, it will not soak thru and damage the table I am working on. Sometimes I clean it on my dining table...so it does its job fine.Only reason I gave it 4 stars is that this product length wise is fine...but top to bottom is a bit short. I was hoping to get something with a little more head room so I can put my tools on as well. I still can of course but it just clutters a bit...the extra real estate wanted is a plus from this perspective. Product is still good stuff but just my personal opinion.Would I buy again? sure. unless I can find one similar with extra height. Overall decent itemCheers!

I purchased this pad for use in my home shop where I often sit at a workbench to clean firearms or do simple home repair projects. I was tired of having to chase errant parts, screws and springs that roll off the hard surface of the bench. This oversize Remington pad provides a well defined and more secure work surface. It also has vinyl backing so if I spill solvents, I don't have to worry about staining the maple surface of my bench. I haven't had to run it through the wash yet, so don't know how durable it is. I put the pad on a Blitz 11430 Galvanized Drip Tray which provides an added level of protection for spilled liquids, etc. It's a good value for the price and the size is better than one I purchased from Brownells.

Measured with my digital caliper it is only 1/16" thick. As others have noted it is just a thin piece of felt, which tends to snag on sharp stuff. It has a thin plastic backing. The good part is that it is so cheap, you don't have to worry about messing it up. I cut mine with scissors to a size that fit my desk. I bought this as it was cheap and I like the green color. Little gun bits tend to get lost to the eye with a black mat. I can not recommend this mat. It's too thin and provides little protection for whats on top as well as underneath. I think a green or gold thin mouse pad material would be the way to go.

I was hoping these would be the same as the other kind I've bought on amazon. They have a soft felt like finish but it feels more compact than felt. It seems a lot better than felt. They are plenty big enough for any type weapon. You may can even put it under your car it's so large. Just kidding. It's just fine for any weapon and it will probably last a lifetime.

I had purchased a Hoppes cleaning pad but found it to be too small for my liking as my shotguns were longer than the pad. Purchased the large Remington pad sized perfectly for my needs. The only way it could be better is if it were thicker (like the Hoppes).

Collects pad lint and clings powder dust. Nice to know they aren't going elsewhere but doesn't brush off easily.

I re-ordered this by mistake, after finding that with a little use the material in the pad tends to "ball up" and shed small fibers that can be counterproductive to cleaning projects. It does however offer some protection for whatever surface it is on top of.
