Is it actually waterproof? Can I swim with it and it stays on?

If you apply it straight from the tube I think you definitely will be able to swim and stay pretty flawless - although when you go to dry your face (if it gets wet) the towel will be pretty stained with make up. The reason I speak about using it straight from the tube is that I never did, I would dilute it 50/50 with my moisturizer as its pretty thick in consistency and gives very good coverage, its very nice makeup and it lasts all day also a tube lasts a long time (or it did for me using it 50/50) hope that helps you.

I believe so , very pleased with all day coverage and plenty still there to wash off at night !

How best to choose shade?

I chose mine based on my skin tone(which is warm with yellow undertones) if your cool toned go with a cool based foundation, and warm if like me you have golden undertones. then choose based on how light/dark your skin is to find the right shade
