Teka Ebony 4/4 - 3/4 Violin Chin Rest

As a beginner violinist, it was important to find something that was both comfortable and of value while I try for the best fit. I can say that this is fits the mold on both levels. This rests just to the side of the tailpiece and feels gentle on the chin without sacrificing support. It also grants a hint of extra height as someone with a longer neck. Fitting was easily done with a paperclip, though tools are available as well, this needs no extra tightening.

The real Teka style has a high enough half arch on the right side so the chin rest is slightly over the tail piece and the player can place the side of the chin closer to the center of the violin instead of way to the left side. This Chinrest's arch is not even high enough for my son's ¼ violin tail piece (its height is actually way lower than the tail piece) so it can only be used as a side style Chinrest.

I bought a violin which didn't have a chinrest, and at first I tried to learn to play without it. I would have to really crane my neck to hold the violin and it wasn't comfortable after even short practice sessions. I finally bought this chin rest, not sure if it would make much difference, and suddenly the violin felt like a natural extension of my body. I could practice for much longer periods of time with complete comfort. Now I can't imagine playing without it.

I bought this chin rest for my daughter, who is very picky (she's 12). I thought it was just a 12-year old thing - nothing was comfortable, all chin rests were terrible. But I got her this chin rest and a gel chin rest pad, and she's not complaining (about this!) any more! She loves this chin rest. Arrived faster than expected. We're pleased.

Item as described. Fit on the electric violin with some modification. My electric violin is thinner than an acoustic so the padding on the bottom of the chin rest needed to be thickened with extra cork.

I have attached pictures - the boxwood (light brown) chin rest is an actual Teka chin rest that I previously purchased elsewhere. The black chin rests are what I ordered from Everjoy Music, Inc. They are not the Teka model. They are not the same shape, size or height and one is even a center mount! Very frustrating. Do not recommend.
