Works for 2002 RAV4. Further install info.
Direct replacement. Works well. Been a week and it is a solid replacement. Costs twice as much at the local auto replacement places. Would buy again. Feel heavier and more solid than the OEM Denso starter. Before you replace your starter on a non starting car, CHECK the battery. Your car battery should be 12.6 or 12.7V. A running car should be charging at 14.4V.As to install information:There is a video on a 2000 starter replacement video that is only about 2 minutes showing the last part of the install. The general replacement videos are pretty accurate in general but this is specific to the 2002 RAV4 below.Prep:Since it has been years on, use some PB Blaster or liquid wrench to spray the two bolts ( 14mm ) and also where it connects to the engine. I did it 24 hours ahead and the starter slipped off easily with an extended socket wrench. You need to unbolt the starter and slide it out to the right to get it out. Watch the videos, they are generally all the same.Disconnect battery.Take off air hose. ( one philips and one bolt )Take off the block square unit * someone said it was a cruise control * to right of starter. ( 3 bolts )Take off the mounting plate that this block unit was sitting on. ( 2 bolts )Flip the mounting plate up out of the way.The starter now has two small hoses crossing over it.Just slide the transmission one off.The other you can just slide off the right of the starter. The starter is fully open to you.Detach the clipped small cable to the starter on front. Careful with the plastic clip holding it in.You only have the 2 bolts holding the starter, 1 bolt in the back holding the power cable. The power cable is tight against the starter as it is held down so just use a screwdriver to pop the rubber ring to the right of the starter so the cable is loose. This will free the power cable to twist the starter.Take off the two mounting bolts. Now rotate the unit so it exposes the backside you cannot see.Flip the power bolt cover off.Use your socket to take the bolt off the power cable.Slide the starter to the right and out it comes.Reverse this to remount the starter. Now this is important - stated in many videos. Because the starter power cable is on the backside of the starter - you must tighten the power cable and put the cover back on FIRST.Yes, the starter is half hanging inside the hole as you rotate the starter so you can tighten the bolt. You then after push the starter into the engine then apply the 2 mounting bolts.Time for job about 30 min. Save yourself about $400 for labor and materials doing it yourself for about the price of this starter bought from Amazon.com and your own tools.Good luck. And as they say.. click the like.

works great
Worked great, good price. to those that have problems installing this, if you do not have the ability to do this job, then don't leave bad reviews about a perfectly fine product. yes the solenoid is larger than the original, makes no difference it fits fine and is much more heavy duty than the original...

Purchased for 2002 Toyota Camry 2.4L Engine - 50 Minute Install, Works Perfectly
The pros:- Shipped in 2 days.- Clean, fully built starter with solenoid- Fits my 2002 Toyota Camry 2.4L- Factory parts and other places charge $140 or more with a core charge. This is so cheap in comparison, I'm so pleased.Possible con:- On first open, I was sure this part wouldn't fit. It seemed much larger and a different shape. This doesn't matter at all and it completely worked with my car.I wish I had made a video review to show you but I will probably upload some images. This starter isn't like the factory OEM. It's larger and doesn't have the same shape, but that doesn't mean it won't fit or isn't the right size for the starter. I don't know much about cars, so a friend of mine had to install it for me. It took less than 40 minutes for him to install it and it works great.Another reviewer left a comment about the noise. It's noticeable but not a problem. It's not that loud and doesn't really do anything different but promise that your engine is about to rev and vroom, off you go! I was so excited when my car finally started up after 2 weeks of waiting to buy this part.I just wanted to leave this review having never bought car parts on Amazon or online for that matter. I didn't know what to expect and I was really worried that it wouldn't fit. The starter works great, the car sounds amazing and it idles without issue (some suggested it would idle rough after a starter replacement). The idling part happened at first but it goes away after you drive it for a few miles.I'm so pleased with my experience with this and I can only hope that the starter lasts for a long time. If not, there is always the one-year warranty and I hope if that experience does happen, it's just as rewarding as this one.Thank you for building such quality, cost effective parts. You really saved my life!!!

This is an EXACT replacement on a 2000 Toyota Avalon XLS.
After watching a video on YouTube, I got the information (and the courage) to change out a dead starter on my 2000 Toyota Avalon XLS, so this unit looked like a great deal to me (great reviews and a very low price). It is an EXACT replacement, to the point that the "START SENSOR" cable connector was sitting right in front of the connector on the new starter when I was ready to connect it into the electrical system. This starter seems to be well made, and high quality, so just how long it lasts will be the proof of that, I guess. I still love my Avalon, so I intend to drive it until it gets too expensive for repairs. So far it's been incredibly reliable and fairly low maintenance. Even the old, original starter finally gave up in my driveway and not somewhere else where I would have required a tow. Once this new starter was installed (it took me - an amateur - about an hour to do the work), the car started right up and it sounded solid and pretty much like the old one did. Some people have commented that this unit is louder than the original, but I can't really say I noticed that. I even had a neighbor start my car while I listened under the hood, and it sounded great to me. If this unit performs as long and reliably as my original one did, this starter can't be beat in terms of quality, performance, and most definitely price.

Fast cranking and good build quality
Replaced the starter in my 2002 Solara 2.4L. This unit seems to be of better build quality than the original Toyota (Denso) unit. This unit is hevier, has beefy cast components and electrical terminals.Installation was easy and straight forward with good fitment. This starter cranks the engine at what sounds like 10x the speed the old unit ever did. Would take 5 turns to start previously, now will start in 2.The only reason for not giving 5 stars is the location of the terminal for the battery connection. That terminal nut/bolt faces the rear of the unit once installed, making it hard to access/see after installation.Tip: Install the battery lead first before bolting in the starter. May need to pull the starter again if you need to get to the battery lead bolt again.Buy this one. Its a good unit.

New! Not reconditioned
There was nothing bad I can say about this starter. It’s new not reconditioned, The price was right. It was an easy installation and it works flawlessly. It’s only been on for a couple weeks but I’m sure it’ll be great. I highly recommend this starter. And it fit perfectly on my 1998 Toyota Sienna.
