Vocations: The New Midheaven Extension Process (Special Topics in Astrology Series, 2) Paperback – January 8, 2006

Mr. Tyl has an interesting approach to vocational astrology. Unfortunately, astrologers are predisposed to being very opinionated without any idea that they're being opinionated. In the course of so doing, astrologers and students of astrology frequently say things and interpret things in such a way as they damage people all the time, and they do this without thought. For them, it's just "true". They are in possession of these great universal truths, and too bad if you don't like it. As a person who is trying to find a fulfilling path in her 50s, it was very discouraging to me to read two to three different references by Mr. Tyl that if you're in your 50s looking to build a career or change careers, you're fooling yourself. By the third reference, I closed the book. it's interesting that he said it's not the role of an astrologer to discourage or deflate people, but he had just done exactly that. The role of an astrologer should be to find the best viable path for whatever concerns the client, and help them to walk down it. And by this I don't mean to tell somebody, "Well, sorry, you're old, so I'm afraid you've made your bed and you'll just have to lie in it, but if you like writing perhaps you'll get an opportunity writing your local community newsletter for free." I had really hoped that perhaps the explanation for this outlook was the original printing of this book was at least 20 or 30 years ago; that maybe he missed editing that part in the newer versions. But apparently, the first printing was 2006. We're living until our 80s and 90s now. Please stop telling people that everything they might become and anything new that they might do is out of the question over the age of 40. Everybody needs to feel motivation, excitement and purpose about their lives. When you don't have it you start dying.

I'm a big fan of Noel's work. This book is no exception. That said, when you are creating a new process you must make sure there are no typos. Parts of the extension process have been pasted in, there are letters instead of planets, they are in different colors and fonts, and there are repeats where pasting in has occurred. It's a mess. If you are learning, you shouldn't have to guess if that "t" is supposed to be a Saturn glyph.In addition, the charts mentioned are often a page before or after which requires electronic page flipping.Please fix the extension typos. In the meantime, I'm returning the Kindle version and am buying the book.

It is THE book to get if you want to learn Vocational astrology. Find calculation software made using this book at astrowin.org. The calculation software does most of the heavy lifting so you can focus on interpretation.

Excellent book introducing this new method with many examples .highly technical ,useful for anyone who loves astrology .well written , useful ,I loved it .

This book is quite detailed and technical so I would say best suited to serious students of astrology. They however will be rewarded by giving due attention to this book as Noel knows his stuff through and through and is very generous in his sharing of his knowledge with others. This is a man who has done thousands of charts and systematically tracked clients through time as they grow and change.

The product was delivered timely and was just as described. I am very pleased with this purchase.

わが日本でも、おなじみとなりつつある、ノエル・ティルNoel Tylの、氏に拠る、重要な著書群のなかの一つで、職業について論じたもの。 まずタイトルの"Vocation"、ならびに同じ、仕事に関わる2つの単語、すなわち"Job"、"Profession"それぞれの語の意味を比較検討した件り（p.3〜4）を読む事で、本書の性格を判ずる事が可能であるとレヴュアーは考える。 本文180頁のうち、手法にかんする、ケース・ステディをもまじえての説明は55頁で、以降はそれらを踏まえたチャート読み、ケース・スタディである（"practiceand patience!" 尚著者は、私達後進の為に、練習用の場をホムペに設けてもおられるので、本書入手前に訪れてみるのもひとつの手である）。 「背景と現代に於ける前提」には、「現代の考え方-ミッドヘヴン（以下、Mh）・エクステンション・プロセス」の小段落がある。ここで著者はMhを、私達のホロスコープにおける、「天職を照会するにあたっての焦点」として蘇らせるとし、「創造的なやり方で」の方法を具体的に、箇条書き9項目として提示している。 レヴュアーいわく、上記ツールの一層の理解の為に、まず著者一流のティル・メソッドの基礎からの理解は重要である。ゆえに『コンサルテーションの世界』（石塚隆一監訳、レヴュー済）等、氏の手法を詳述した著書をまず手に取る事をお薦めするしだいである。 クック・ブック形式を含む詳述とケース・スタディの部分では、気付きのレヴェル（p.48）やMh拡張プロセスを「推測ゲーム」のように捉えない事（p.62）等、占星術以前に重要な件りや、天職に於ける5つのチャンネル（p.52〜54）、…重要な文章はあまた存在。ケース・スタディに用いられたチャートのデータ索引は巻末にある。
