I've tried several rust coatings over the years, and this one stands out for both coverage and overall quality. It goes on smoothly with a brush, levels out nicely, and leaves behind a thick, durable-looking finish that dries to a deep black. While it can be sprayed, I found brushing it on gave me the best control and ensured every rusty area was completely covered. Preparation is what makes the difference. After removing the loose rust and old paint, this coating gave my 4-wheeler racks a clean, like-new appearance while adding a tough protective layer. It also goes much farther than I expected. I coated multiple racks and still had plenty of product left for future touch-ups. It costs a little more than some competing products, but the superior coverage, easy application, and high-quality finish make it money well spent.

Definitely follow the directions and use a disposable brush. This stuff is fan, but gets thick and sticky fast, and works very well. It’s tough so keep it off your skin. It’s very hard to remove. Expensive but worth it!

This stuff is really quite amazing. I’m restoring an old truck that has a little bit of surface rust. Even in spots where the rest was a little heavier, it rolls or brushes right on and in 24 hours you have a perfectly primed surface to spray either black or other colors or you could just leave it alone. I’ve had it on for six months now and when I pressure wash the painted surface, it looks just like it did the day I painted it. I see no evidence of rust underneath at all. I’m impressed.

Goes on smooth and really works. I just use a cheap brush and throw it away.

I received my Eastwood Rust Encapsulator Plus in a timely manner. The Eastwood Rust Encapsulator Plus is a top notch product for encapsulating rust and stopping it dead in its tracks. I had used the POR-15 for a few years on a couple vehicles and after observing that produce and then using the Eastwood Rust Encapsulator Plus I have no doubt that Eastwood is the superior product for encapsulating and stopping rust, it's more cost effective and works and last longer than the POR-15.

Works great

This product works so well. I bought it to protect and paint over my 1990 Honda Fourtrax racks and rims that am restoring. I changed out my plastics so the racks really needed some love! They had some rust so I wanted to clean them up and prevent it from rusting more. I used a small paint brush and a small sponge brush to apply the product. I could have sprayed it but I thought painting it would be less waste and more cost effective. This dries down pretty quickly. It is hard to get off you skin even with Gojo. I ended up using 100%r real acetone to get it off my fingers. When it's on...it is really on! Pic on Left is Before, Pic on Right is After.

This is not a two part, bullet proof, end all/be all solution for underbody rust or an underbody coating. It is very easy to apply and work with. It does not seal the lid to the can like some more robust products, but is more of a rust mitigating primer that works as advertised. I think it is ideal as a paint-over-rust primer. I used it as a pre-primer to roll on a bed liner in the tub of a CJ-7. 100% satisfied with it, and would order it again.
