Allen Sports Deluxe 2-Bike Spare Tire Rack , Black

Purchased this on 8-13-18. Very Nice, solidly built two bike rack holds up to 70lbs. The description is not clear; however; This bike rack (Model 302DN) is only made for the 1994-2018 Jeep Wranglers (JK), (not the 2018 JL as clearly stated), 2002-2009 Jeep Liberty's and 1997-2006 Honda CRV's which is on the back of the retail packaging. The Rack is very well built and easy assembly (using only a 7/16 driver, socket or wrench). It is highly recommend that you take your time inserting the set-up pins. They will scratch the powder coat badly (as seen in one of my pics) AND they can pinch your fingers. I recommend hold the rack against your chest firmly to insert. I did the other side this way and not scratch. It's a great rack for the price!! Very well built and will works well. I will probably use some bungy cords and a lashing strap just to be safe, which I have done before in the past. Overkill is better than dropping your expensive bikes at 60mph. I hope this review is helpful for future buyers.

This rack was simple to put together and install. It fit right over the spare tire and latched under the door easily. The bikes mounted easily, it took me a try it two to get them on right. I was nervous about it on the 200 mile drive, constantly looking. I just knew the bikes were gonna fly off. They didn't, and I didn't hardly looked at them on the way home. They were safe and sound. And it's a reasonable price to boot. I would recommend this.

works on my RAV however had to take off the hard spare tire case and go to a fabric one. easy to attach and both bikes fit. we just havent worked out the locks yet as we can lock both bikes to the rack, but not enough left to put thru the spare tire which if the cover is on it you cannot do so need to figure that out AS i think if someone really wanted the bikes they can pull the rack off the tire and take it and the bikes with them SOOO we have not been able to leave them out of our sight. i am 5'5" and not able to lift my 30lb bike up onto the rack w/out working up a sweat :(

As I write this, I am sitting in the passenger seat on a cross-country road trip with the bikes in the back. We’ve already been on the road for 1 day and the mount has barely moved - even in 30 mph wind gusts. It’s a very, very easy setup and I’ve even got it clamped on top of my 2012 RAV4 spare tire cover (I wrapped the bottom brace bars in foam to prevent them from scratching the cover). We used a couple bungees to secure the wheels and tied stopper knots in the nylon straps after fitting the bikes into the mounts. Lastly - because we’re staying at hotels and traveling across country, we decided to secure the bikes with a couple locks. We clamped a u-bolt lock over both bikes and then wrapped a combo wire lock from that to the wheel mount bracket that’s bolted to the car (had to feed it behind the tire cover, but it fit perfectly!). If you’re on the fence about buying a spare tire bike mount, definitely consider the reasonable price, easy setup, and durability of this one.

Works great on my Jeeps. Don’t have to use special attachments or tools. Just hang bars over top of spare tire & secure strap hooks to anything on the bottom of vehicle, I usually use the openings on the tow ball & then just tighten the straps. Doesn’t go anywhere. Bikes just sit on the special hooks that close & lock. I’ve never had to use one before & didn’t want to put a lot of money in it so this was perfect. I do have to take it off to open the rear door of my Jeep but I just put it on last & take it off first. The other option I have done is hook the straps to the underside of the spare tire holder. It works just as well & you can open the door with the bikes still on it. Also, it’s lightweight & u can lift right off & lay in back till u need it again.

This looked to be exactly what I needed but a couple issues. Upon assembly the instructions say don't mount on an RV spare tire. I doesn't say this anywhere on the Amazon page and it doesn't say why you cannot mount on an RV spare tire.. There really is no difference between an RV spare and car/SUV spare so I proceed with caution. 2nd issue is my bike is a little heavier on the rear than the front and the rack wants to slip to the right side and possible come off the spare tire. I will have to secure further with rope to keep the bike from slipping to the left or right. Not ideal but seems like it should work.

It fits over my spare tire and the straps attach to the bottom bumper to hold everything in place. It is very easy to put on and take off. I also use my wired bike lock and lace the cable thru my spare so no one takes it off. I use a few extra straps to hold the front tire in place as well. The instructions are well written. I am very please with this purchase

Couldn't find a review where anyone stated what size tire this will fit on. I got it mounted to a 31x10.5 on a 15" rim. Fits on there nicely but the straps have an elastic section to them so I don't fully trust the straps with a $4000 bike. I will be using a ratchet strap or two to make sure it's secure before putting my bike on there. If my bike falls off the rack best believe I'll be updating the review but for now I'm happy. As far as the tensioner that Allen sells (for bikes without a straight top tube) it fits with a lot of wiggle room. Kind of silly that the company makes a tube to fit in their rack system but it does not fit snug. I have to tighten it down all the way and I can still rotate it back and forth. I guess I gotta wrap it with duct tape or something to make the bar a little thicker to fit tighter.

Comes in two pieces...easy to put together and pop on the spare tire. Two straps hold it in place. You'll need a secure place to clip the straps to. I have a 2021 Ford Bronco and it has a steel bumper with holes for such purposes. Works like a charm. Holds two bikes. I took my bikes to a spot to go biking and the rack comes off in 30 seconds and I locked it in my truck. You can't leave it unattended or your bikes/rack can get stolen. But if you need to I can envision easily using a bike chain to lock the bikes to the rack and the rack to the spare tire. For the money it's a great deal.

Der Fahrrad Träger für das Ersatzrad am Heck meines Fahrzeuges sitzt entgegen meiner Erwartungen total fest. Ich muss aber ergänzen, dass ich, um ganz sicher zu sein, dass der Träger nicht verrutscht, noch einen zusätzlichen Spanngurt um das Ersatzrad befestigt habe. Außerdem habe ich Glück, dass ich die beiden unteren Spanngurte durch die Ersatzrad Felge ziehen konnte, sodass zum Öffnen der Heckklappe der Träger nicht einmal z. Teil demontiert werden muss. Fazit: Für mich ein Top Fahrrad Träger für den schmalen Geldbeutel.
