Works great. Cleans our water. It's really surprising how much sediment is in our water. I replace this yearly and it's dark brown when I switch it out.

Been using this filter model for several years at the cottage, where we pump water out of the lake. Initially, I found that using this filter alone, the tiny algaes and whatnot in the lake water clogged the filter in a few days. I modified my setup to have two sediment filters first to screen out the junk, then this high-quality carbon filter. The sediment filters are Pentek DGD-5005 Spun Polypropylene Filter Cartridge, 10" x 4-1/2" , which screen out 50 micron and 5 micron sediment. The setup works great. Filling up the bathtub, the water is clear and odor-free. There is no discernable pressure drop when new. When the pressure drops after a month or so, changing the first sediment filter keeps things going for another few weeks. The carbon filter has to be changed about every two months.

The filter does an excellent job of not only filtering the water but maintaining strong water pressure, as well. The pressure with the filter installed is as good as if there is no filter in the housing at all. Great value for the money.

I spent a while looking for a filter that is definitely NSF rated. It's pretty common for a filter to claim to be rated but then you can't find it listed on the NSF website. This filter is rated for materials which means it is only rated to use safe materials. It is not rated to actually perform as claimed. That's not uncommon with NSF ratings. The filter was a little lopsided which isn't uncommon in filters but is is annoying. I hope it went in straight and I expect it did but I probably won't know until I take it apart again and see where the indentations in the gaskets are. They're also a little on the pricey side right now. The primary reason I got this filter was to reduce chlorine and the smell of the water. It seems to be doing well as my test strips indicate there is no chlorine now in the water. It also seems to have reduced the smell of the water (I have city water but it smells a little bit like river water). So both of these outcomes are good. I put in this filter and a 50 micron spindown filter right before it. As far as I can tell it looks like it only slowed the flow by a very small amount. Prior to install I checked how long I needed to fill a 2 cup measuring cup at the kitchen sink and the time may have increased by 5%, maybe not even that much. Considering I added two filters to my line I think that's fine. I was pleased that 0 carbon fines (that I could see) came through on the initial flush.

Chlorine system was just added to or well water. Had to get rid of the chlorine taste and smell. This filter did the job.
