My experience is unique and infuriating
I purchased avast! based on my brother's recommendation; He's a big fan of the interface and the boot scan feature. After downloading the file, I ran into an error message (557) during installation. I tried downloading it again from amazon, and then directly from avast, but kept getting the same error message. Frustrated, I contacted amazon, who sent me to avast. Fast forward a bit, the avast tech is remotely controlling my pc so that he can see the issue for himself. He looked up "critical errors" and things like that on my computer, and concluded that the errors needed to be fixed before avast could be installed. He then said "Do you have any friends or family who are microsoft engineers?" I'm thinking to myself "umm... of coarse not!". So he says "Not a problem! We have a team of microsoft engineers who can fix this issue for you!". They quoted me $180 to fix this issue.Im really confused, because I've NEVER had a program not install in my computer because of "Critical-errors". I understand if my video card or OS isnt compatible, but critical error history? So i decided to test the validity of this claim by installing the software in trial mode. This is the full version of the software, just with a 30 day time limit. Not only did the software install without error, it performed a full system scan as well as a boot scan without issue. It came up with the same error code when I entered my activation code, however.I then called the company back, to confront them with my findings. They insisted that the critical errors had to be fixed. They used sales tactics to try to scare me from going back to Norton. They did everything but "unblock" my activation code. I told them to unblock my activation or give me my money back. They told me to go ahead and call amazon for that refund.In my opinion, this is a scam. I really liked the software, and would have been happy with it and the price. If it works for you, thats great. If not, DO NOT pay them the $180. Just buy norton antivirus like i did.

Name misleading
Last year's 'Premium' bundle had the features you find today in 'Ultimate'. The Premium tier is only Anti-Virus.Also, a very big 5star MINUS to Amazon as it is hiding these digital orders where nobody can find them. I had to spend a huge amount of time tracking where the software key is.

Nagware
Avast is one of the most annoying pieces of software I've ever purchased. It may be a good anti-malware tool but on installation it nags the user to upgrade to various other Avast services, and on de-installation tried to prevent me from doing so, and instead buy the product again! I finally managed to kill the app in Task Manager and have Windows uninstall it. Never again.

After using for a short time am constantly sent notices that my pc is at risk and need to upgrade
Annoying messages on a regular basis telling me I need to pay more for additional features as am at great risk of attack or of having messed up computer for minor potential problems

Where is Tech Support?
No 5 stars rating from me due to the kind of support from Avast. My problem is the Password Manager which is not working with my Firefox browser. The error message of 'Avast Anti-Virus' not on system. I have the fully legit AV Premium installed. Many emails to support and get no reply. This is the worst Tech Support I have come across.

quality and service.
I've had them for many years and they have really helped to keep my computer clean and running smoothly not to mention protecting it as well, I really recomend this product to everyone. only cons are... nothing really.

What I hoped I'd get
I am happy with the product. I had to call tech support right at the onset of installing product. They responded right away and walked me through installation. Tech.Support was awesome. I only wish the manufacturer would make the software more user-friendly for people like me who have very little computer-savvy.
