Better than the American version
I much prefer the taste of the original to what we can buy in the grocery store here (in the US).There is a better umami taste (I believe it is the anchovy).

So much saltier and intensely flavored than the American version
I recently went down a tonkatsu and chicken katsu making rabbit hole, and that included making my own homemade tonkatsu sauce.I realized the key to a good tonkatsu sauce was the quality of the Worcestershire sauce used. So I rounded up a few of the most highly rated varieties and even splurged on bottle that cost more than 4x what I would pay for an American made bottle of Lea & Perrin.Suffice it to say the UK made version packs considerably more punch. Unfortunately that equates to about 2x the intensity that was good for my version of tonkatsu sauce, and I had to compensate by doubling the the other ingredients. So twice as much tonkatsu sauce obligating me to make tonkatsu again really soon.I have since gone on to use this Worcestershire sauce in a 2 day marinade of a cut of chuck that I went on to sous vide to make into medium rare roast beef with thyme au jus. The extra kick this sauce packs translates much better in a meat marinade, and the renderings from the seasoned beef used in the thyme au jus gave an extra kick.So I'm using up this bottle in marinades, and I'm sticking to the American Lea & Perrin for my tonkatsu sauce making.BTW I agree with the general food critic assessment that American Lea & Perrin is the best of the widely available and easily accessible Worcestershire sauce brands in the United States. Most cheaper varieties lean far too heavily on vinegar as their main flavorant.Lea & Perrins produces quality whether it be the UK or American version. The only reason I deduct one star from this product is that $22 for less than 10 ounces is a bit cost prohibitive for regular use considering an American made bottle is less than $5 for a 10 ounce bottle.

Superior to the American version
Lea and Perrins has always been a favorite in my kitchen. It has limitless applications. The American version is great, but just as I expected, nothing beats the original. With malt vinegar in place of distilled white vinegar, the flavor is more bold and robust. I’m a huge fan of malt vinegar to begin with, so once I realized the true product used malt vinegar I knew I had to try it. It’s excellent. I’ll definitely purchase more.

It's not the same -- it's better
On a whim I bought this for my wife who loves Worcestershire sauce. We were both amazed. This is not just different from the American version (which is fine!) it's better in a lot of ways. It's lighter flavored with definite fruit notes, and it's suitable in many dishes where American Worcestershire isn't. It's more expensive, ounce of ounce, than the American version, but it's worth it.

tastes like L&P used to
Apparently Kraft must have watered down and cheapened the recipe for their American market, because the first time I tried this the difference was amazing! Much stronger flavor from the malt vinegar vs white vinegar used in the US version. A bit more anchovy flavor and peppery kick as well. Brought back memories of steaks and burgers in years past before they changed the recipe.

Maybe I recieved an off bottle.
Maybe I recieved an off bottle. It had a very light flavor that was easily missed. I needed to use so much at one time. I was expecting a deep and rich flavor. I simply cannot justify the price for the impact on the dish. I know of less expensive options that deliver harder.
