Love it
Overall, this is one of my favorite flashlights. I have been using it for walks and general purpose stuff. All of the other options for obtaining this type of LED are very low end stuff. What kind of LED is it? It is NOT just a narrow-band color LED. It is constructed the same way you would make a "white" LED, which are actually blue LEDs with a layer of orange-yellow phosphor over it. But this one has a HUGE amount of phosphor, which creates an "orange" light source, but due to it being phosphor-based rather than directly an orange LED, you get a wider bell curve over the orange range. This makes it like 98% orangey to protect your eyes, but with just a tiny bit of light across the spectrum so you can just barely tell different colors apart. This is both functional and also more pleasant than a narrow red LED, which I find weirdly disorienting because anything not exactly red looks black under a red LED. This amber type gives a fuller view of things while still being gentle on the eyes. This flashlight is expensive, but it's a high quality product. Anodized threads (not square, but still well done), a good forward clicker button, a good matted surface texture with no flaws. The lens is pretty good. The beam does have a small amount of bright ring around the very edge, but not distracting. The beam is otherwise very consistent throughout. I suspect the LED is only available with a dome, whereas a flat type is better for flood beams. I prefer the USB-battery charge method. No need for a separate charger. I know a lot of people like USB ports built into the flashlight body, but that ALWAYS ends up making the flashlight larger. I prefer this setup to have a more handy sized flashlight (it's smaller than more common "tactical" lithium lights). It does not use the cheesy "PWM" (pulse width modulation, basically a super fast strobe) method to do the low power mode. It's constant non-flicker light. One thing I might suggest is for the low mode to be somewhat lower. It's a pure flood beam so the current low mode is OK, but it could be about a third lower and still serve as the low mode while extending the battery. But it's OK as is.

The best light for preserving night vision
Absolutely the best for preserving night vision. This light uses a special PC (phosphor-converted) amber LED, which provides a wide spectrum light and even illumination that makes it easy to read with at night without wrecking dark adaptation. This especially useful when using a star chart at the telescope. Traditional red LEDs are either too dim or too harsh (i.e. narrow spectrum) to read by. No other vendor (to my knowledge) offers this kind of LED. There are other Weltool lights in other colors (white, red, green & UV) that also produce a wide circle even illumination that makes all the difference when trying to see objects a night. They are certainly pricey, but well worth it for quality rugged construction and high quality illumination.

Fantastic red light
This is a wonderful red ight. I looked for several years for a good red light - one for which the red beam was not an apparent afterthought. I bought practically every red light I could find that I hoped would meet my needs. I bought hundreds of dollars worth of other lights only to find the red light was not really a big concern for the manufacturer, always apparently an afterthought. This light, on the other hand, is all red and only red with two settings, high and low. This is the one feature that will make it or break it for most users. If the brightness works for you, you'll have a red light you'll love. There's nothing to dislike. The beam is perfect. There is not one bright spot, no dark spots either, no rings, nothing, just beautiful, smooth red light. It's just amazing. The difference? This one was designed as a red light. All the engineering was geared toward that two-setting red beam. So, finding this light is like a happy culmination of all my efforts. It is one beautiful product. I bought an 18650 battery from Fenix that matches the battery they specified for their testing. The battery that's included has less capacity. I replaced it. I saw a review or two where the price was mentioned. If you get this light, and the brightness works for you, you will not fret about the price. I'm happy to find it. Just a totally wonderful light.

Watch out so you don't hurt yourself
I order things on amazon nearly every day. I'm a fairly capable human. I struggled getting the box open (it opens from the side but is in no way clearly marked.) Be careful turning the light on for the first time! My eye hurt for 1/2 a day after I turned the light on. Let me explain. You struggle to open the box. You click the light the first time expecting it to turn on... doesn't turn on. There are zero instructions. You open it up, think maybe the battery is flipped, so you flip it around. The ends of the battery aren't drastically different. You click it to turn it on...nothing. You flip the battery back...nothing. You open it back up. Then you see a small paper disk in the end cap. You take it out (remember its been like 3 clicks and nothing, it's a rechargeable battery so you're staring to wonder if the battery was charged prior to shipping.) You SHOULD NOT put your hand in front of the beam and look at your hand when clicking the light on to check it. When I did that I nearly blinded myself. Let me repeat. Flashlight was pointed at the floor. A split second reflection of the light off the surface of my palm hurt my eyes for hours. It's that bright. Be careful. One star off for no directions. Word to the manufacturer....if you don't put some warnings on this you are gonna end up with some LAWSUITS on your hands. That being said, I've had it for one day and it seems like a solid light. It seems like a good buy at this point in time. I took it outside at night and the light seems to fade in the distance fairly quickly but I bought this for astrophotography so I didn't want something that would blind myself or others. I plan to use this as a secondary light when I need extra light and use a red headlamp as a primary. Seems good for that purpose.

Superb all around light, not true amber as advertised
All in all, this is an exceptionally well made piece of hardware, and most people will be absolutely thrilled with this light. It is very hard to find fault in this light. My only grievance is that while it is advertised as a 590nm amber LED flashlight, it appears to be a blue LED with a phosphorescent coating to fluoresce and emit light that will peak at roughly 590nm, as opposed to a direct drive LED diode that emits light at only 590nm. This is a subtle difference because the presence of the blue light in the phosphorescent version of a yellow LED will still affect your night vision, which can be problematic if you're using one of these warm color lights to attempt to preserve your night vision. The color of the phosphorescent LEDs is also noticeably paler yellow skewing toward the green than is the pure golden orange of a direct driven 590nm LED. In my pic this light is on the right, with a true, direct drive 590nm light on the left. I don't think the pic captured it as clearly as it is obvious to the eye, but the rich orange color of the 590nm direct drive diode is very noticeable when shone next to the direct drive diode in person. In the pic this shows as a slightly more pale-yellow color on this light than the orangish hue of the direct drive competitor. If you're not someone who has been using amber lights for most of your adult life, you'll probably never notice the difference. This IS an great light, and worth the money. But, if like me, you care about whether or not your diode is direct drive or a phosphorescence emitting blue diode, then possibly consider other options.

Yes, it is Good.
I tried to take a picture, but it would not post on Amazon, but my review is. This thing cost me $69.98 and I got the shipping for free. Excellent amber beam, not too large, not spotlight. Correct color for Amber. There are no dark areas, just even light. On the perimeter edge of the circle there is an orange Halo. It has only two brightness settings, no complicated modes to deal with. You have a momentary on condition, and it starts off in low beam, if you depressed completely you stay in low beam. Two clicks will bring you to high beam, the momentary mode will only bring you back to low beam, but you can hold the high beam in momentary mode or depressed fully for continuous operation on high beam. You have about 5 Seconds to fully depress the button and stay in high or low beam for continuous light. The light is smooth and steady, no buzzing or flicker in low or high beam, just a beautiful continuous smooth light on low or high even when jogging or running. Both are quite bright, not to be looked at directly. It can be rough on the eye, but not harmful for short direct exposure. Battery life is Fabulous 6 hours plus, no dimming yet.

okay price, light feels overbuilt in good way.
nice light. seems durable. have no complaints. 1850 battery came inside the light with a tab covering the terminal. its a flood style lense and the amber seems like it will work for low light applications without having a long throw.

Battery NOT included!
This product did NOT come with the rechargeable battery as advertised. There is a small "space" in the packaging where you would think a battery was to be put - but - it was empty.
