Cannon Season 3 with great episodes & guest stars
Cannon, which ran for 5 seasons from 1971-1976, was a terrific detective mystery series led by the incredibly fit big actor William Conrad. They didn't have altering computers or trick photography back then, so besides his wonderful dramatic ability he appeared to be actually doing most of the athletic stuntwork & chasing of the criminals himself. He had a gruffly endearing manner as Detective Frank Cannon, and the stories were well-written & featured many popular TV and film stars, some listed below next to their starring episodes of this Season 3, 6DVD set:Disc 1He Who Digs A Grave (Part 1) - Anne Baxter, David JanssenHe Who Digs A Grave (Part 2) - David Janssen, Barry SullivanMemo From a Dead Man - Martin Sheen, Robert WebberHounds of Hell - Geoffrey Deuel, James McMullenDisc 2Target in the Mirror - Claude Akins, Julie GreggMurder By Proxy - Anne Francis, Linden ChilesNight Flight to Murder - David Hedison, Jamie Smith JacksonCome Watch Me Die - Michael Tolan, Don StroudPerfect Alibi - Richard Anderson, William WatsonDisc 3Dead Lady's Tears - Dabney Coleman, Amanda McBroomThe Limping Man - Anthony Zerbe, Barbara StuartTrial By Terror - Ray Danton, Ned RomeroMurder By the Numbers - Dina Merrill, Glenn CorbettDisc 4Valley of the Damned - Leslie Neilsen, Corrine CamachoA Well Remembered Terror - Robert Goulet, Michael StrongArena of Fear - John Marley, Jess WaltonPhoto Finish - Jack Cassidy, Herb EdelmanDisc 5Duel in the Desert - Joan van Ark, Denver PyleWhere's Jennifer - Pamela Franklin, Christopher StoneBlood Money - Perry King, Diana MuldaurDeath of a Hunter - Edward Mulhare, Sharon AckerDisc 6The Cure That Kills - Peter Strauss, Richard SlatteryBobby Loved Me - Pippa Scott, Jon CypherTriangle of Terror - Dana Wynter, Lloyd BochnerThe Stalker - Cindy Williams, Luke Askew

Mobile Operator, This Is Frank Cannon
I've owned poor quality bootlegs of the entire show for some while, so I was enormously grateful to have access to this DVD. Simply the best TV detective show ever in my humble opinion. Frank is a decent, kind, big man who wields a mean karate chop, and is a crack shot with his .38 Special. The episodes are exceptionally well written, and assume the viewer to have at least a modicum of intelligence. Additionally the scripts often deal with social subjects in an unusually (for the day) candid and sensitive manner. Compelling, intriguing tales not short on action see Frank driving a massive Lincoln Mark IV furnished with a very early model mobile phone through the streets of Los Angeles, although his travels frequently take him out of town too. I do hope the entire series will eventually become available, as Cannon really deserves to be shown in entiretyFor those who want a fuller Cannon experience, several paperback books were published such as this for instance: The Stewardess Strangler (Cannon #2) (Lancer Books #75260) in addition to a British comic strip in the UK comic books Target and TV Comic. Here's a list of the complete series of paperback novels. All are original stories not committed to broadcast and all are available on either Amazon or Amazon UK. Murder By Gemini (1971, by Richard Gallagher) The Stewardess Strangler (1971, by Richard Gallagher) The Golden Bullet (1973, by Paul Denver) The Deadly Chance (1973, by Paul Denver) I've Got You Covered (1973, by Paul Denver) The Falling Blonde (1975, by Paul Denver) It's Lonely On The Sidewalk (1976; by Paul Denver) Farewell, Little Sister (1978, by Douglas Enfer) Shoot-Out! (1979, by Douglas Enfer)

Portly detective gets his exercise by chasing down the criminals
William Conrad starred in probably his most famous role as Cannon, another Quinn Martin production. If you have seen any of Martin's series like "The Streets of San Francisco","The FBI","The Invaders" you will already know what kind of show this is.Exciting stories and plenty of action.Guest stars include,David Hedison (Capt Crane in Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea)David Jannssen (Dr Richard Kimble in The Fugitive)Richard Anderson (Oscar Goldman in The Six Million Dollar Man)Martin Sheen (President Bartlett in THe West Wing)Jay Silverheels (Tonto in The Lone Ranger)Nick Nolte (Tom Jordache in Rich Man,Poor Man)Peter Strauss (Rudy Jordache in Rich Man Poor Man)Paul Brinegar (Wishbone in Rawhide)Edward Mulhare (Capt Gregg in The Ghost and Mrs Muir)Cindy Williams (Shirley in Laverne & Shirley)Apart from acting,William Conrad seems to be a very talented man.He has been a director, producer and narrator. He was the narrator for "The Bullwinkle Show in 1962.His is the voice you hear on the opening credits to "The Fugitive", "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" and other shows like "How the West was Won".He was the voice of Marshall Matt Dillon on "Gunsmoke", the radio series, before it was turned into a TV show. For obvious reasons he was not cast for the TV role. His early roles in movies in the late forties, early fifties was as the heavy. He was one of the killers who guns down Burt Lancaster in his film debut in the 1946 movie "The Killers".His last role was as the Fatman on "Jake and the Fatman"The first three seasons of Cannon has been released on DVD.The first two in two part volumes.Season 4 and the final season is still unavailable as of this writing.

WHAT A GREAT SERIES THIS WAS, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
After watching the first two seasons of Cannon since last watching the series in the 1970s when first aired over here in the UK i was pleased to see season 3 available and duly ordered the dvds. The first two seasons i could only get in NTSC picture format and were 'fixed' region 1 discs so the only way i could watch them was to recode to all region discs so i could view them. I was so pleased that on this set of season 3 the discs are still NTSC of course but the manufacturer has had the sense to code all the discs region free so will play in any dvd player ! The listing states they are region 1 but they are not, so anyone here in the uk CAN watch them. Now looking forward to watching season 3 and hopefully the remaining seasons when they are released.....
