Which amp\s have you tried with this headphone and which amp do you think suits best for the he4xx?

I use a nobsound ns 08e and it works excellent. The only thing I did was swap out the pre amp tubes for some nos Russian stock tubes (new old stock). Russian tubes are sturdy and accurate. The sound is excellent. Now, that is only if I use my phone or other device. Thur my home sound system I don't need any extra amp help.

What if I don’t like the sound quality?

If you don't like the sound quality follow the return guidelines set by Amazon. But, these headphones have very good sound quality. Highs are exceptional so are the mids. Bass is tight and accurate. Unless your a bass head these are worth it. If you need more bass then give up any semblance musical taste and get some beats. Now sometimes it could be the fit or comfort then except my apology about the beats comment. The point is you can't do much better than these for the price.

Differences between this 4xx and the hifiman 400se? please help headphone noob in deciding between these two thanks 🙏

I own the he 4xx. I've only read about the he 400 se. The differences I know of are the headband is of a different construction. The 4xx drivers can swivel both vertically and horizontally. Which I prefer. The 400 se only vertically. From what I understand the 400 se is lighter due to the drivers having magnet structures only on one side of the diaphragm. Whereas the 4xx has magnets on both sides. How this impacts the sound I don't know. I recommend you Google reviews for both models.

What size are the drivers?

Well they are planar magnetic, they do not use a conventional driver or dynamic driver they use an array of magnets see the picture in description of the headphone opened up. They work by having magnet arrays spaced apart that vibrate a diaphragm. Some PM headphones have two arrays of magnets some one. So instead of a central magnet vibrating a cone its an "array" arranged in a flat manner a "plane" hence the name. Basically the technology is different so while they are probably a 45-55 mm square plane it cannot be compared to a 40 or 50 dynamic or more conventional driver.
