is this adapter capable of packet injection and monitor mode?

Will it run on windows 8.1 or Windows 10? I have recently had an issue with another Alfa product that did not have good drivers for windows 8.1 at all

No, it runs terribly on Mac and Windows 10. This is a fundamentally faulty product. There is a reason this costs half what the other usb 3.0 802.11ac adapters cost. The savings are not worth it.

How do you install mac drivers if your mac has no optical drive? Can I download the drivers?

You can try going to the website and try to download them from Alpha, otherwise buy and external portable cd/dvd rom drive. I have not tried this on my Mac yet, but I've tried to use this wifi adapter on 2 different Windows machines and it was very unstable. Good luck.
