HOTARU Multi Sparker Electronic Gas Spark Lighter

This rapidly sparking concept is great for lighting gas appliances and superior to hard to light hard to pull iffy BBQ type lighters.However, using the included alkaline AA battery (tested 1.4v) even though it sparked it would not reliably light my propane tank top heater. However I replaced the battery with a new lithium AA (tested 1.8v) and it works perfectly every time. No child guard (thank you) and the trigger is effortless to produce rapid repeating spark. 5 stars with lithium battery. Lithium batteries are more powerful, longer lasting and best for outdoor cold temps so not a problem as I planned to use one anyway.

This igniter does as described in that it does give a continuous spark. It works great for lighting my Coleman camp stove, however it will not fit inside of a Coleman lantern match hole. You will need to use long stick matches. I'd give it 5 stars if it did that.

It shocked us during usage (I discovered if you make contact with the exposed screws along side the handle you will be shocked- why they designed it to have the screws exposing I'm not sure) It also malfunctioned and only worked some of the time (I changed the battery three times to make sure it wasn't the fault of the batteries..) And on top of this it only worked for a short time before the sparking just stopped all together. Wouldn't recommend anyone buy this.

Difficult to use

Work very good with new battery.

When the electronic strikers on our Amana stove quit working, we had to use matches. What a pain. I didn't want to invest a bundle replacing the strikers. So I started using Scripto gas lighters. They work fine, but are sometimes difficult to ignite and they run out of fuel and need to be replaced every few months. Then I tried the Hotaru. Works on a single AA battery. What a great device--quick and safe, lights the burners every time. So easy to use! I have no need, nor desire now, to replace the strikers.

Item as described. Works well with our grill and serves the purpose.

Wish I'd known about this product years ago. It's so easy to use, long lasting and cost effective. Simply the best gas lighter out there... and the last one I'll ever need to buy. My mom who has arthritis in her hands loves hers and can't do without it.
