I purchased this as a replacement. The original one came with my Asus Rampage V Extreme Motherboard and was brand new, but I accidentally burned it up ($150 mistake). The new one seems to work so far as a replacement. JUST BE CAREFUL WHEN PLUGGING IN THE REAR DATA CABLE. The connector on the back of the unit is larger than the plug on the cable. On the data side the plug makes contact with the pins before you reach the interlock, interlock at bottom of connector is flexible thin plastic that will bend down at the notched out corner when using regular force to insert the plug over the 18-pins. Make sure either by plugging the cable in first before installing the unit or by using a mirror so that the plug is inserted directly in the center of the connector. I installed it from an angle and I was one row of pins off and the plug went all the way in. When I turned on the computer smoke filled the whole house. A black wire on the data cable had small pin like bubbles on it but what was funny is that all of the damage was on the other side. On the power side the plug was melted into the case and the wires had to be cut to remove the unit. Asus wasn't much help since they didn't know if the new unit would work as a replacement. Model number on this unit is Chinese symbols that I had to compare between units, no numbers. Photo was damage done.

Very good and fast delivery

I will use it in normal mode for cpu temps and fan rpm. If you want to use it in extreme mode outside the case, then MODDIY sells replacement ROG_EXT cables in a variety of longer lengths.
