Speedtech Instruments WindMate 200 Hand-Held Wind Meter

Great product and good value for the money. I use it when kiting. Good to be able to read the wind both max, avarage and momentary.

I needed to measure average wind speed and direction for work purposes. The WM 200 worked well for that purpose. Its not too complicated although I don't use it to its full capability.

The product is great. It Is relatively simple to operate and exceeds expectation. There was a slight problem with the item due to shipping (I assume). I was to leave for Hawaii in 36 hours and WeatherHawk had a new unit in my hand before the plane took off. Amazing support and service. No gripes with the product either. Now I'm investigating what my next WeatherHawk will be.

The wind speed measurement is great, but the wind direction is poor. The wind vane does not work as advertised especially when the wind is lower than 10 knots. The 100 model would have been a better purchase for my needs.

This unit is just what you need to accurately assess the wind speed for sailing. It has helped me to better estimate wind speed by looking at the chop, white caps, and spindrift. Without an instrument - you're just guessing. 5 knots different doesn't seem like much yet could be the difference between heavy heel and a knock down. Knowing accurate windspeed coupled with experience (time on the pond) helps me to know my boat better, know my sails better, and be a safer boater. I like the back light and the ability to get wind chill. Back light is substantial without making me night blind. I have used in 45 mph winds on Lake Erie with no issues. The high impact plastic handle held up well ti the death grip I had on it. I'd say its durable. Go ahead - get yourself one -you'll be glad you did. I fretted over it for a couple of weeks - now I cant imagine why. It has been a great purchase.

I bought this unit specifically because it is advertised as being able to average the reading based on 5/10/13 second intervals. I have been unable to figure out how this is possible other than just the average function. Highly disappointed since I need to use this for work (I am a track coach and need these functions for allowable performances). I'm not one to write negative reviews but when the information is inaccurate, I do not want someone to have the same experience I had.

The product does exactly what it is intended to do. Works well on my 15 ft sloop. I don't have the size of a boat to allow for higher end electronics to be installed. This little unit is portable, easy and fun to use. A great way to get beginner sailors involved while sailing to contribute to the team.

Its good ,for the money I have paid; I'm not sure how exactly measure the wind speed , but to get some information about wind speed it is OK
