Lite Bicycle Chain Lubrication

Living in Northern California, one rarely has to worry about rain, especially during the past four years. If you are looking for a chain lube for fairly dry conditions--drought or no--Dumonde Lite is the best. Period. At the risk of looking a bit OCD, here is my foolproof application technique: [1] Deep clean your chain. You need to not only remove all the grime, you need to strip off all previous lube. This is SOP any time you change lube. [2] Apply one drop Dumonde Lite per pin. [3] Once all the pins are lubed, run the chain forward for 1-2 minutes. This will be messy; use a big Amazon box to protect the ground. [4] Using a clean shop towel, run the chain backward and remove 99% of the lube. [5] Re-apply lube, repeating steps 2 & 3. I do not follow the rinse-repeat instruction on shampoo, but here it makes a huge difference. [6] Using a clean shop towel, run the chain backward and remove "almost all" of the lube. Using the 'finger' test, you want to leave a thin trace of lube. The above will give you a rock-solid base that will last 300+ miles of riding in dry conditions. As other reviewers observe, the chain will be quieter than your tires. When you hear the chain getting loud, it is time to re-apply. My favorite chain lube. Not too heavy and easy to wipe off excess. Smooth operation. Relive every 200 miles or so. I’ve Ben using for 10 years with tens of thousands miles.

I’ve been biking for about 18 years, and this is the best chain lube I’ve tried so far—and I’ve tested many others. It’s easy to apply and allows for precise control, just touch the nozzle to your chain. It might take a little practice to get the hang of it. The lube keeps shifting smooth, and the chain stays nearly silent for two or three rides after application. Personally, I lube my chain before almost every ride, but I’ve forgotten a few times, I didn’t even notice a difference in performance. As a bonus, the lube has a mild but pleasant scent, blueberries?

Always searching for the holy grail lube; lasts a long time, doesn't collect dust, lubricates well. In the southwest prolonged drought, dust is ever present. I've used Finish Line dry lube for years and it works well but the applicator tip tends to plug up and it's a pain. This lube seems to work as well or better and applicable has been easy so far. I did buy a needle applicator since the bottle itself has a large opening that it's hard to get a small drop out of. Super happy with this lube for mtb and road bike.

I tried the dry wax chain lube that is so often featured in ads and influencer videos. The result was a rough, noisy chain, even after multiple applications. For my new bike, I went with Dumonde Tech Lite Bicycle Chain Lube instead. It is a high quality chain lubricant that applies easily, lubricates well, and eliminates all of the hassles of these trendy wax dry lubes that don't work.

a very good lube but certainly no magic bullet. I typically use Pro-Lube or Pedro's but gave this a shot based on reviews. As a masters bike racer I ride & race over 10K miles a year and have been doing that for many years so I've been around the block. The carrier in this lube seems to evaporate after a few days leaving an almost wax-like residue (this is a good thing). While this does stick to your chain very well it also attracts a fair bit of road dust/grime -- that being said, I probably would NOT use this on my mtn bike. It does a very good job of keeping the chain lubed, but you still have to stay on top of wiping down your chain and doing regular deep cleaning (I use a wet cleaner that clamps over the chain). I was getting over 5000 miles on my KMC X10-SL gold chain with the other lubes and I'm sure I will with this one too. Bottom line, pay attention to your chain with a quality lube and it will treat you well.
