The B52 is a giant clone that makes traps 1.75 inches across at full size. It is one of the largest, if not the largest, giant Venus Flytrap clones. B52s are all the same plant. They are all genetically identical. Your B52 comes with a 3 inch net pot, moss appropriate for carnivorous plant soil loosely packed, and a full page detailed care sheet, written by an experienced Venus Flytrap grower specifically designed for beginners, explaining how to take care of Venus Flytraps. All you will need is a bowl or saucer to hold the Venus Flytrap's pot that it comes with and a little bit of water, a gallon or so of reverse osmosis or distilled water, and a sunny window or a place in the yard to put your Venus Flytrap's pot in. Humidity domes and year round warm weather are not necessary. Venus Flytraps should not be grown with terrariums or humidity domes. These type of plants have strong light requirements and it is a myth that they need high humidity. The truth is that Venus Flytrap setups with terrariums or humidity domes almost always cause these types of plants to eventually die. They need to be grown in open air with containers that allow air to get into their soil and there should be little to block or diffuse their lighting. Venus Flytraps take about 2-3 years from seed to reach a decent size. A kit with Venus Flytrap seeds is not going to quickly turn into a large sized Venus Flytrap. The Venus Flytraps were propagated through tissue culture and are not wild collected. Review: Holy moly I'm a VFT grandma! - Wow! This was my first carnivorous plant. It came with two healthy adult plants, a netted pot, and sphagnum moss, and detailed instructions and a thorough care sheet (follow it and you will have happy, healthy plants). The BIGGEST issue I have seen after becoming part of the VFT community is people killing their plants because they think they can get away with watering with bottled or filtered water. YOU CANNOT. You must use distilled (which is what I use right now), reverse osmosis, or rain water. Absolutely no minerals whatsoever can touch those roots. I use a red/blue led grow light on my guys. I had it very close and had the light on for like 12 hours immediately upon getting them. Needless to say, the traps burnt and looked sad. I was scared, but the little buggers grew new traps and the old sad ones died off. The new traps were acclimated to the intense, long artificial sunlight. They grew and grew and grew. I started getting scared again because one of the plants started growing many tiny traps that I thought were disformed or mutated. I ended up importing, thinking the two plants maybe needed different pots, but to my AMAZEMENT, the tiny traps were BABY VFTs!!! After some research, I successfully divided 11 baby plants from the mother plant. They are so adorable and so tiny. I didn't even know they could do that. Only the one plant made babies. I'm not sure why. The care was exactly the same. So now I have 13 VFTs from the 2 for 1 I bought here in November (about 3 months ago). I'm doing some experiments on 5 of the babies with different lighting and rain water. Happy growing! Review: Perfect plant! - This plant is so cute! It was a gift for my husband and arrived 10 days before the estimated arrival date. Seller is amazing in that he gives you exact details of how to care for your plant, and pretty much answers any question you might have with all of his care sheet information. It’s very thorough- and I’m grateful! The plant arrived well packed. I was super worried that it sat in my mailbox for about 2 hrs, in the Florida heat- but it was just fine. I left it wrapped in the packaging, as described, for another day indoors. I waited to unpack until I had purchased some distilled water. I followed the directions exactly (don’t unwrap until you’re ready to put in basket). I’ve put him in his basket, in a butter tub. (Ugly, I know.) I water his tub every 3 days or so. I’ve got him in the screened patio, and he has bright sunlight during the afternoon. He receives west facing light. (My patio isn’t super shady.) I live in very SE Florida. Our humidity is no joke. I’ve been a little scared to try rain water with him, mainly Bcs I don’t want him to die, since he was so costly. I have however given him one baby cricket, via tweezers, which worked really well. (I have a pet tree frog that I feed baby crickets to, so I already had them.) He has lost two shoots (one right after arrival), and grown one. Looks very healthy and happy. My husband is thrilled with him! I look forward to repotting him in a prettier setup someday, but I don’t want to rock the boat. Lol

Arrived DOA
I received a; 'Large Sized B52 Giant Venus Flytrap - Fly Trap - (Dionaea Muscipula) Carnivorous Plant 3 inch Pot' on March 19th that I ordered on Amazon /Joel's Carnivorous Plants. (Email address sent does not exist by the way to communicate with seller.) When the plant arrived it looked rough from the commute. The plastic that surrounded the plant was very damp and there was a great deal of condensation inside the plastic. The roots of the bulb were black and there was a good deal of black on the plant itself. SelIer said it might take a few days to adapt to new surroundings. I followed the instructions that accompanied the plant but it arrived past the point of saving. It was dead on arrival but I gave it a chance. The reasons for my discontent with this purchase: 1. I received a dead plant (package looked like it was kicked here) 2. I followed all directions and gave it a shot to maybe recover - did not happen. And hey - that happens.... 3. I tried to contact the seller but the email he provided came up as not a valid email and would not send 4. When I tried to return/refund the seller wanted the dead plant he sent me returned exactly as he sent it and there could be a 50% restocking fee for something or other. Are you kidding me?!?! 5. A friend bought one for her daughter for Christmas and same scenario. I have healthy Venus Fly Traps, this was not one. Buyer Beware.

A Fun, Vibrant Plant!
Joel's directions are extremely helpful, especially for a brown thumb like myself. I have had my plant for a matter of weeks now, and it is thriving (I have four new traps thus far!). Here are some things to note before purchasing: - Joel answered all of my questions quickly and thoroughly, and I suggest you submit one yourself if you are unsure of something! - You do not need to keep the plant in a netted pot (although you can). As Joel notes in his instructions, you will need to transition to a larger pot within a matter of months, and I moved mine sooner than that for aesthetic's sake. As pictured, my VFT is currently in a glazed candle votive holder I found at Target with breathable side holes. - If and when you move your plant, you will need more sphagnum moss than provided. I would suggest purchasing moss at either Home Depot or a pet store, which is far cheaper than some other stores (or Amazon). Just ensure that there are no additives or funky ingredients, and you should be good to go! I found a gallon size bag at my local Home Depot for $5. - For feeding, the same goes - ensure that your food is not fortified with any vitamins or minerals that your plant either doesn't need or doesn't want. This can be tricky, especially if you are shopping at a pet store, so always read the ingredients! I feed my VFT bloodworms, which I purchased at PetCo for $3. - When you feed your VFT, you will need to rehydrate your dried worms. Do not add too much water! I place a couple of drops into a bottle cap and slowly add the worms to ensure there isn't any excess water. Not only will your trap blacken and die off if its food is too wet, but the nutrients your plant needs will leech into the water and be lost when it drips off! Slowly adding bloodworms also ensures that you aren't rehydrating more food than your trap can handle, which in total should only be 1/3 the size of the trap you chose to feed. I place my food with tweezers and gently massage for a few seconds, so the trap fully seals and accepts the worms. - As Joel notes, keep the directions that come in the package! They will come in handy if your VFT exhibits signs that it isn't happy and healthy, by troubleshooting from a reputable source. Googling your way through is far harder in my experience, so keep them handy (or contact Joel to send them to you again). This is one of the least expensive and most rewarding plants I have purchased, and it came very healthy! I would recommend this purchase either for a friend or for yourself to add to your growing plant collection.

Fun plant, but know you stuff
We purchased these plants when my wife wanted to add some variety to the house plants we have around our home. They arrived well packaged and healthy looking. We carefully unpacked the plant and gave it a couple days to adjust. After a week we had all the planters and terrariums we needed for replant our new additions. The repotting process was a simple YouTube search and more purchases from Amazon. I won't get into the specifics, but after the repotting and feeding we thought we had done a good job and were happy with ourselves. No even two days later, they were dead. Black and closed. The crickets and flys just wandered the glass domain they found as their home. If you are in the market to add some carnivorous plants to your plants around the house, know what you are doing. We didn't. They were a fun idea, more a novelty than a real plant idea though. If you really want to grow them you'll need to have an area you can build a terrarium. They need a humid environment to really do well we found. We didn't have the best experience with this product. But that was our fault not that of the product nor even the seller. We do recommend this product, just do your homework first. Enjoy.

Great product...but needs to have more care instructions posted prior to purchase.
This was a great product. I was very impressed when I opened up my package, the little guy was still thriving and the setup of his new home was simple. The seller is knowledgeable, responsive and supportive of the plants transition to your home. That said, I think the description of this product needs to include some of the VERY SPECIFIC requirements needed in order to allow your new plant to survive. Needless to say, Chomper did not survive. When I ordered him, I had a window in mind...the sunniest one I have in my house...but the description did not specifically call out that he needed at least 4 hours of DIRECT sunlight a day. I only get indirect sun. I emailed Joel, and again he was very quick to respond and tell me what I needed to do next. Unfortunately I think it was too late. I ordered an artificial light matching Joel’s recommendation but by the time it arrived, the traps were starting to turn black and I thought he could make a comeback if I just kept doing what needed to be done. That was not the case. So my recommendation to the seller is to update the description of the product so people have more of a specific idea of what they are getting into Before they buy. And my recommendation to buyers out there would be don’t order this plant if you don’t get the proper sunlight in your home (and keep in mind, according to the instructions the plant needs to acclimate inside before you put it outside) or have an artificial light at the ready.

Best Fly Traps Ever !
I have purchased carnivorous plants for several years now trying to raise them. The issue is that most plants I get in the mail are not so good looking to start with, and they generally go down hill from there. I purchased three plants from a seller in Texas a few months ago, and one simply is not growing; he has not offered to replace the plant. My wife has a friend who bought a VFT from Joel. I looked at his site and bought a B-52 based on my wife's friend's advice. It arrived several days letter, very well packed and with more moss than I needed. I cannot say this enough...it is the best looking, healthiest, and problem free VFT I have ever seen or owned. My eyes fell out when I opened the box and saw the plant. Joel put a few extra plants in to complete a "medium" sized pot, but it looks more like a large to me. He included total instructions along with a diagram that a 6 year old could understand. Since these plants arrive bare root, we would never have known how to pot it without Joel's instructions/picture. Joel answers emails very quickly. He also has several videos at his website that show EVERYTHING you want to know about potting his plants, as well as instructions on what to stay away from. He gave me advice that I never knew, such as not planting these with clay pots. I could talk for hours about how happy I am with Joel. I do not know Joel, never met Joel, don't even know what state or country Joel lives in. But he is a great guy to buy from. Try him! Look at all the other reviews here; they all tell the same story ! Super happy customer! Great plant and awesome service!
I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to share this story about what an awesome find this plant and JoelsCarnivorousPlants were! My almost five-year-old had been asking for a Venus Fly Trap plant for months. After checking local gardening stores to no avail, we decided to check online. We made the order, bought all the necessary supplies (distilled water, freeze-dried worms, plant light) and waited for its arrival. Unfortunately, due to the world at its current state (Covid, protests, etc.,) shipping took longer than estimated. When the plant arrived, more than half the plant was black. We followed the very thorough and easy-to-follow instructions that came with the plant. However, the plant overheated and looked like it was not going to make it. My little guy kept asking if his Venus Trap Fly (as he calls it) was supposed to be that color because even he could sense that something was wrong. As a parent, my heart sunk because I knew the plant was not going to make it to its first feeding and that would have really disappointed my son. I emailed the seller to see if there was anything I could do to salvage the plant. He promptly (within minutes) responded. He asked all the right questions, and when he knew we weren't responsible for the plant's condition, he did not hesitate to send us a new plant. What an awesome gesture -- especially during these tough times! We received the new plant as projected this time around. The plant is doing well and my son is over the moon. There are so many wonderful lessons to be taught/learned about caring for a living thing -- a carnivorous plant. But the most invaluable lesson of all was sharing with my son that there are kind and generous people out there like the man who owns JoelsCarnivorousPlants who wanted to ensure my son experienced all the joys of caring for his plant. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
