Wasabi PowerBattery (2-Pack) and Dual USB Charger for YI Action Camera (International Edition) from Xiaomi, Xiaoyi

I did a quick informal comparison of aftermarket batteries from Wasabi Power, Newmowa, and the OEM battery that shipped with the Xiaomi Yi Action camera.----------------------------------------------------------------------TL;DR, the short version:Wasabi Power performed as good as the OEM and I highly recommend.Newmowa is blatantly lying about the 1200mAh capacity, and performed poorest of the options. I would avoid them in favor of Wasabi Power.BOTH brands are manufactured to fit in the INTERNATIONAL version of the camera. The USA version of the camera (the one I have) appears to have a different battery compartment and the batteries REQUIRE a bit of cardboard or foam spacer to be fully compatible with the USA version of the camera. (See pics). The fix is VERY QUICK AND EASY to do, and I still recommend these batteries for the US version (see details below).----------------------------------------------------------------------The test was a continuous video recording at 1080p 30fps, wifi off, static indoor scene with no movement. Each test was run twice and averaged.Results:OEM rated 990mAh: 1 hour 47 minutesWasabi rated at 1010mAh: 1 hour 46 minutesNewmowa rated at 1200mAh: 1 hour 36 minutesI was surprised by the difference between Wasabi and Newmowa, because the two batteries physically look like they came from the same factory. Obviously, the 1200mAh is standard aftermarket battery capacity exaggeration. Although the Newmowa still performed well enough, I'd pick the Wasabi to buy again if the prices are the same due to the longer run time. Also, it's too soon to tell, but assuming the Newmowa is using inferior battery cells, it also stands to reason that they will wear our and need to be replaced sooner as well. I will update this review if that proves to be the case.==== VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT BATTERY SIZE AND FIT: =====I have the US version of the camera. It appears that the US version has a different back door or battery compartment design. The OEM battery for the US version is thicker than the OEM for the international version. Both the batteries from Wasabi and Newmowa are sized for the international version and are substantially thinner than the battery for the US cameras.IF YOU HAVE THE US VERSION OF THE CAMERA, THESE BATTERIES MUST BE MODIFIED SLIGHTLY BEFORE YOU CAN USE THEM IN YOUR CAMERA! Without gluing a small spacer onto the battery (see photos), a mild tap on the camera will cause the battery to slide around and disengage the contacts, turning off the camera and losing your video. Not good for an action camera. But the fix is VERY EASY. With a tiny spacer glued in, I've never had a problem. It’s a quick 1-minute fix that works perfectly. You can use any material, foam, cardboard, paper, whatever is handy. The spacer does not have to cover the entire battery, only the part closest to the contacts (see photos). It’s very easy to modify these batteries to work in the US camera version, and they till get 5 stars from me. I recommend taking the 5 seconds to GLUE the spacer into place, because it makes quick battery changes much easier, nothing to fall out, get lost, fumble, etc.NOTE that in the photos, the OEM battery has a slight rounded curve to it on the downward edges. I don't know why this is, because my camera housing is perfectly square.Both the dual-bay chargers appear to be identical and function the same. A note on the USB chargers - I HIGHLY recommend that you plug them into a USB 3.0 port or a 2+ amp wall charger. Using a standard 500ma wall charger or a USB 2.0 port, there's just not enough current to effectively charge both batteries. More like a trickle charge! REMEMBER, it's not the charger's fault, it will only function as good as the power source you plug it into.

Product does not fit correctly the YI action camera despite it claiming to be a direct replacement. Requested to return item and only way to get a partial refund was for me to PAY to return a "defective" product. Totally unacceptable policy from the Amazon and indirectly the vendor.

Awesome batteries from Wasabi for my YI action cam. Just received it this noon, placed it on charge. Measured the charger slot outputs, measured the output from the batteries as well. Tested first run, re charge them again. Just awesome batteries.Great double charger, works awesome with any of your USB outlet or Mobile Phone Charger with 5V Output.Proper same exact power output compare to original battery.They did not heat up much like the original battery of YI cam.Fits Perfectly by length and width but the depth/height is actually thinner than original YI cam, like these are low profile batteries, which does not cause any issues, no need to place a paper or support back of the battery cover, just slightly roll or bend the little piece paper handle that it used to pull the battery out.It did go about same time with the original battery but here is the deal, LiPo batteries will not perform the best at the first use. After using the new LiPo batteries like more than 10 times discharge and charge, you will be getting better time results of use. It will last longer. Just make sure you don't drain the LiPo batteries all the way empty. once hits the %5, re-charge them do not let it drain till %0.One thing it would be best, I wish these batteries would be coming with a plastic battery case like some others or original go pro batteries come with, clear hard plastic cover would be perfect to receive next to these batteries.

UPDATE: They apparently fixed the size issue, which puts this product at a gleaming 5 stars. I got 100 minutes of recording time at 480p out of a single charge with this battery, which is pretty good. I like the design of the charger and it makes it easy to carry with you in your pocket or attach it to a 110v plug and charge it at restaurants while you're on the road.OLD REVIEW LEFT BELOW:It holds a charge just as well as the OEM from my limited use, but it's slightly smaller than theirs, and wiggles around in the camera a bit.Which is fine, it's fairly snug, until you go to use it on something with high vibration like a motorcycle mount.Then you get stuttering videos where the battery connection cuts out momentarily.I wrapped it in masking tape and still it isn't as snug as the OEM.To compare, you can put your OEM battery in the provided charger and see how difficult it is to remove it compared to the Wasabi.Works fine if you get it setup right, but it's not to spec and as such I cannot give it the 5 star rating it deserves.

It does it's job, but it isn't really fit for the Xiaomi Yi, the batteries are slightly smaller so my camera turns off if I'm not constantly using it. So I have to open the camera and readjust it.

Batteries and charger are good looking, quality feel to it but I had issues, With these batteries my Yi was inconsistently not turning on. I think it is due to the smaller thickness of these batteries compared to the original one and maybe the fact that I have a US version of the Yi, which has a different back door design. Anyway returned to get original batteries instead.

The battery fits in dimension, but is thinner than the original US version of the battery. Consequently, I have had incidences where i have placed the battery, and as the camera has moved, the battery lost contact. This is troubling specially when the camera is in the case.
