What a great price for such beautiful music! This is a bare bones repackaging of some wonderful recordings. There are no librettos, so synopses, nothing but a cardboard slipcase with the discs in cardboard sleeves. You have track listings and full cast listings. You can find synopses and possibly librettos online anyway. Lovely singing of two of Handel's greatest operas and his music drama Hercules- don't miss it.

Brilliant, inspiring collection of recordings. I love every minute of it.Disc 5, instead of Handel, contained an Ariana Grande album. (Yes, really.) So I'm missing the second act of Hercules....but in return I get to tell that story for the rest of my life. Worth it.

See the individual operas elsewhere for detailed reviews, especially of Giulio Cesare. This is a bargain at the price. For me, the Giulio Cesare is outstanding, but I have not heard the Jacobs. But that is not the point. This is an excellent recording with wonderful singing from the whole cast, but especially Cesare and Cleopatra.You'll need to access the libretti separately as the slim packaging only includes a track listing.

Eigentlich wollte ich nur eine Aufnahme von "Ariodante", die mir in meiner Sammlung fehlte. Der Livemitschnitt von Minkowskis 'Ariodante" für DG Archiv mit von Otter an der Spitze und dem Orchester 'Les Musiciens du Louvre" und Chor ist hier zweifellos eine oder sogar die erste Wahl. Bei der Durchsicht der Angebote ist mir dann aufgefallen, dass die vorliegende Sammlung nicht nur deutlich preiswerter ist als die Originalausgabe dieser hier erneut veröffentlichten Aufnahme des Ariodante, sondern dass darüber hinaus auch noch Minkowskis "Giulio Cesare" und "Hercules" on Top enthalten sind. Alles auf 9 CDs für unter 20 €!Hatte zwar schon zwei Einspielungen des Giulio Cesare (Rene Jacobs u. Bonynge), aber noch eine konnte ja nicht schaden. Darüber hinaus fehlte mir der "Hercules" bis dato.Insgesamt ein mehr als lohnender Kauf.- Der "Ariodante" ist aus einem Guss - ein lebendiger nie langweiliger Hörgenuss!- Auch der "Giulio Cesare" ist ein rundes Hörerlebnis. Die Version von Jacobs würde ich zwar im direkten Vergleich noch vorziehen - aber allein die Frauenstimmen - allen voran Kozena und von Otter - lohnen bereits den Kauf und übertreffen (zum Teil) die Besetzung der Sänger bei Jacobs.- Als weitere "Zugabe" noch den Hercules. Auch hier die Frauenstimmen, insbesondere Lynne Dawson und von Otter wunderbar.Alles in allem ein Hochgenuss zum Sparpreis. Daher 5 Sterne und sehr zu empfehlen.

Sembra strano che questi lavori diretti da Minkowski non iano stati recensiti, eppure tutti e tre meritano.Innanzitutto il cofanetto dell'Archiv è appetibile e non soltanto per il prezzo, ma per l'interpretazione che uno specialista come Marc Minkowski, suo terreno di elezione è questo repertorio, da a questi lavori suonati con strumenti d'epoca, e con il cast equilibrato.Registrazione negli standard dell'Archiv, quindi molto buona.

Gloriosa caja de principio a fin. Me costó pasar de Pórpora, Bach o Vivaldi a Handel, pero me rindo al alemán. Soberbia, con un sonido muy bien captado que añade matices a arias, recitativos y coros. Las versiones son maravillosas y bastante actuales, de ahí el buen sonido de,las grabaciones. Si hay alguna creación humana que trascienda en divinidad, esa es esta caja.

Pour qui souhaite se lancer à la découverte des opéras de Handel, qui contiennent de vraies merveilles, voici une excellente affaire : trois opéras dans de remarquables versions historiquement informées, avec des chanteurs globalement de très bon niveau et un orchestre vif et acéré. Les conditions techniques sont excellentes, le prix très raisonnable. Evidemment, point de livret ni d'iconographie, mais à ce prix-là, on ne peut pas tout demander ! Pour ce qui est de la musique, un coffret hautement recommandable
