Arc Insert

I love this thing. Motorcycle riding smoker. Able to light one at any speed. Remember it only works with a double click. Pressing the switch once does nothing. A safety feature no doubt.

After considerable thought and research I decided to go with Zippo as my primary lighter and a big part of that was the arc insert. The whole insert system itself was a master stroke in my opinion. I got the double butane torch and the arc at the same time. Despite reading and following the instructions I couldn't get the first arc to ignite. I returned it. I received the replacement shortly thereafter and had the same issue. Then as I was about to give up and return the whole thing I happened to notice a little paper insert in the box that near the bottom mentions a double tap ignition system. Oi! It works like a champ. Perfect fit, excellent construction, clean, safe, and for those that can read easy to use. No issue with the double butane torch whatsoever. For the price they are both simply excellent. Since this experience I have thought of applications for some of the other inserts available and at these prices why not? I read the instruction leaflet and it says press the ignition button and hold it. Be nice if they more prominently displayed the double tap instruction somewhere as it is an excellent safety feature. They should also somehow give users the option of a single press.

Charged it up, put it in my Zippo shell, replacing a perfectly good lighter. But I'm getting tired of replenishing the fluid, as a matter of fact I can't even get fluid. I ordered 2 bottles of Ronsonol back at the beginning of April and never received them. This little doodad lites up my smokes pretty nice. A double press of the activator button and a glowing X fires it right up. It only took about 2 hours to charge it up. It fit perfectly in my classic lighter case. Appearance is pretty cool and modern and versatility is great, it's windproof. At the price, it's a great buy also.

I like that I don't have to buy fluid and flints and fluid won't leak out and burn my leg. The biggest problem is that when it's brand new, the lighter insert won't come out of the Zippo case by hand. I had to use pliers for several weeks. It's at the point now where I can pull it out by hand, so be patient. I smoke 1.5 - 2 packs a day and the battery lasts about 24 hours. It works great in the wind, but it was an adjustment to position the lighter so close to the heat source. I'm used to the flame where the cig. is held a bit higher than the lighter. It's just awkward for me. Zippo advertises that the LED light blinks when it's low, but the light is inside the case so you can't see it. There is no warning when it gets low on battery power, it just quits working, so always have a Bic near by as a back up. I usually plug it into the USB on my laptop and it typically charges in about 30 minutes.

Didn't realize how much money I'd save on butane and lighter fluid. With daily use it lasts about a year or two. Still less money to replace than having to refill or replace cotton and flint. Can prolong it's life you lightly clean the prongs. DON'T USE ON FIREWORKS. The fuse can damage the prongs.

This review is for both the Arc lighter insert, and the double butane lighter insert. I bought both. Arc Insert - Fits perfect, very well made. Easy to charge up. Lasts a long time. I got it for an emergency lighter for backpacking, snowmobiling etc. Also, to be clear, you cannot light a cigar with this Arc lighter, period. Doesn't work, don't try. I am a cigar smoker and I tried, nope. Cigarettes probably. Get the zippo butane insert for cigars, works great. Double Butane Insert - Fits perfect, very well made. Easy to fill up and adjust flame. Worked right out of the box, I didn't have the problem some have had with the piezoelectric starter. Strong consistent flame. I got it for general purpose and lighting cigars. Works great. EDIT - I had a problem with this after I refilled it the second time. It would not light. Good spark but no gas coming out. Tried to purge in case it was bad gas or air bubbles. No good. Was about to send it back when I saw an article on youtube about the known defective flame adjustment screw on the bottom. I followed the instructions and it fixed my problem. Requires taking the lighter bottom off and removing or reaffixing the flame adjustment screw stop and o-ring. Not terribly hard but requires small tools, good eyes, and a steady hand. Not to mention I am sure Zippo doesn't want you taking this apart as it voids warranty maybe? I'm bumping my review down 2 stars cuz the owner shouldn't have to fix a brand new lighter. Good luck. I am so happy Zippo finally made these! It revives all my old zippos I don't use because the lighter fluid evaporates so quickly.

This is what you get when you don't want to worry about fuel Flint or Wick works great my last one lasted me over a year that was to be expected ordered another one going to keep one in the drawer these charge up fast for two packs of cigarettes they do fine
