it Works Exactly As Promised!
I was made aware of the RazorPit by a recommendation made in The Simple Dollar daily email blog. The writer of the blog is not known for mentioning or recommending products he doesn't use himself and hasn't found to be durable, long-lasting, effective and of good quality. So, when the blog writer wrote that he used the RazorPit and it had greatly extended the life of his razor blade use, I decided to investigate. I had just recently switched my razor blade of choice to Harry's from Gilette, having grown weary of the ridiculous prices Gilette charges. Even though Harry's blades were much, much cheaper (and even superior in function, in my opinion) to Gilette, I was still interested in extending their life as well if I could by using a product like the RazorPit.So, I read all the customer reviews online as well as checking out RazorPit's product website. After doing my due diligence I decided to purchase their latest model (The Slide) with an improved silicone formula which is supposedly a slight improvement over their original model. The new model is a little more expensive than the original, but I figured it was probably worth the extra cost overall if it worked as well as all the reviews indicated. When the product arrived the instructions advised for best results start with a new or almost new blade. It just so happened that the Harry's cartridge razor bade I had on my razor at that time was going on 4 weeks of use. I shave about 4 to 5 times a week on average and by the time the RazorPit was ordered and arrived that almost 4 week old Harry's cartridge razor blade was beginning to start to pull a little and be a little irritating to my skin - in other words...it was time to change it out for a new one. But, I didn't change it out for a new one. Instead, I unpacked the RazorPit, read the instructions and cleaned (sharpened) that 4 week old blade and shaved with it. I was moderately impressed with that first shave with my 4 week old razor blade after that first cleaning with the RazorPit. The razor blade did not pull, nor irritate. As the RazorPit instructions direct, I cleaned the razor blade right after that first shave before putting it away.Today, two days after that first shave using that 4 week old razor blade and after two cleanings with the RazorPit, I shaved for the second time after receiving the RazorPit. However, today, the performance of the razor blade was quite remarkable. It was almost like I was shaving with a brand new razor blade. There was no hint of pulling or irritation of any kind. I was truly impressed by this experience and must attribute it to the effect the cleaning by the RazorPit has had on that 4 week old blade. So, I am completely impressed with the RazorPit at this point. I will continue to use this same blade to see how long I can go before it no longer responds to the RazorPit cleaning. I will update my review in the future if there is anything significant to report.

Best method to extend the life of a cartridge without sacrificing convenience or adding time to your daily shaving process.
Here's my anecdotal experience (I'm not trying to be scientific about it and so I haven't been keeping strict records) so far and my thoughts: It basically does a good job of extending the usable life of a blade. Mine was delivered about a month ago and I started using it on a blade that I had already been using for about a week to a week-and-a-half (couldn't remember exactly) and I shave once per day, seven days a week. I usually make these Dorco Pace 7 cartridges last about two weeks. Well, I've been using the same cartridge now for over five weeks and I think it's finally time to change it, which is pretty good for one that I had already shaved with normally for over a week before I started using this system. Who knows how long the second blade will last, since I will be cleaning it on the Razorpit from day 1.My habits of usage:1. I lather up my face and with the leftover lather on my hands, wipe it on the RazorPit and run my razor over it 8 or 9 times, rinse and begin shaving (I started doing this "pre-shave cleaning/sharpening" because I started with a used razor, though the instructions say you only need to do this once after each shave, so this is an extra step others may not be doing)2. When I'm done shaving, I put lather on the Razorpit again and run it another 8 or 9 times (I think they recommend 4), rinse the razor (and rinse the Razorpit as well), shake/tap the water out of the razor and put it away (so, none of this extra drying of the razor, which some do and which may extend the life of the blade even longer for all I know (but I'm just not that disciplined and not something I want to spend time doing). So let me tell you what I like about this solution, comparing it to other possibilities:1. One of the other ways of doing this you can read about online is to run the razor backwards on the inside of your forearm. This is a method I've tried and in my experience it does do the same thing somewhat, but not as well. I also don't like doing it, don't like the feel of it, and am always afraid someday I'll be in a hurry and accidentally catch and cut my skin by brushing against it on the way back preparing for another forward stroke. The Razorpit method extended the life of my blade longer and without this danger.2. Run your razor backwards over a strip of material from an old pair of jeans. I used to do this every once-in-awhile and it works somewhat, too, but tends to wear out and/or pull off the lube strips and/or rubber strips around the razor (which the Razorpit does not do). Plus, I don't care to have pieces of blue jeans hanging out by my bathroom sink.3. Leather shaving straps. I had thought of buying a pair of those and for all I know they may work very well, but it also doesn't seem very convenient to have a pair of those hanging out in my bathroom, never mind what to do when one is traveling. The Razorpit wins again here, as it is small and portable enough to throw into my travel toiletries bag along with everything else. For me, the Razorpit has the advantage over all three of these other methods.Final thoughts: I don't think any system truly sharpens these micro blades, but rather keeps them clean from buildup and because of the nature of these multi-blade cartridges, only one side of the blade is accessible, so one can never get the same kind of cleaning action on the other side of the blades (score one very small victory for the old single-blade shaving system our parents and/or grandparents grew up with). It's true one can probably go months and months (and indefinitely, according to some) with a single cartridge if you employ additional drying methods (or perhaps some chemical soaking methods), but at some point one has to decide how much effort they want to put into the shaving process. For me, this simple unit extends the blade long enough without undue effort or discipline or sacrificing any convenience and in so doing brings the cost of shaving with multi-blade cartridges back into a reasonable zone so that I can consider using any system without being so concerned with the cost of each cartridge. Time to break out my collection of razors (Schick, Gillette, Harry's, Dollar Shave Club--which I think are private-branded Dorcos, 800Razors, etc.) and see which are truly my favorite now that, with the Razorpit, I can get to closer monthly cost parity between the systems.

Not recommended.
Really bad design. This razor pit does not have a backing support structure underneath and due to this reason, it doesn't work properly. You better buy the large razor pit, it works really well and last forever.

Not Useful
I used this as instructed and thought it must be working. But then I changed blades and realized that the old one (I used the blade sharpener on it for 30 days) was definitely dull. My legs finally felt smooth and pretty again. The blade that I had been using the blade sharpener with was new when I began. I honestly thought my legs were just dry from the weather and that maybe my hormones were causing my hair to grow a bit faster. Nope. The blade was dull as heck. I used the blade sharpener daily as instructed.

causes corrosion of the blade but the effect is no better than running rinsing in hot water and drying with ...
It is a rubber mat mounted to a piece of plastic. I've attempted to use it multiple times and all it seems to do is squeegee the soap scum off the face and edge of the blade. This has some minor positive benefit as leaving it there, dried on, causes corrosion of the blade but the effect is no better than running rinsing in hot water and drying with a face cloth or tissue. I can't validate it keeping the blade sharper or "fresher" longer than standard due diligence any good blade user goes through. Not recommended.

Da uomo e da donna
Funziona!

Amazing! It works.
I didn't expected it to work and even then wanted to give it a try as the Gillette Mach series blades I use are getting costlier. I use Razorpit as instructed and found that it definitely makes the blade as sharp as the first shave. I used a blade which was couple of weeks old and I shave daily. On my first use of Razorpit on this old blade, I found that the shave gave me the feel of using a new blade, possibly better. I found using Razorpit, i get a much cleaner shave. Normally i found the patches of grey beard is tougher and needed extra effort to get a cleaner shave. However, using Razorpit, no extra effort is required. Amazing product. Recommended buy. Price could have been a bit lower, but the performance of the product can still be said as, 'value for money spent'.
