Good bridge, but be careful of pricing!
I purchased this bridge, which seems to be the best Aubert a Mirecourt option available for violins. I was also pleased to see it was sold and shipped by Amazon.com, because it made me feel more confident that I was getting the authentic item. However, I would be careful of the pricing on this item, because it seems like it can fluctuate quite significantly. I bought the item mid-July 2022 and paid $10 more than the price that was showing at the end of July 2022. Amazon's policy is not to adjust pricing even though you could easily return the item and re-purchase at the cheaper rate. Of course, if you already have the bridge cut to your violin that becomes impossible and then you're out of luck. $25 is an amazing price for this bridge, so buy it now if you need it! But maybe don't necessarily rush to buy the item if it's over $35 and you're not in dire need.

The best one you can find on Amazon but it needs ...
This note is for the previous customer who thinks this bridge is too thick, that's correct, it is. This is a bridge blank! The best one you can find on Amazon but it needs to be carved for your instrument to become a great bridge. The feet need cut exactly to the curve of your violin, the top carved to just the right height and curve, the thickness plained down and in a complex way, the notches put in the proper place, a tab or insert for the E string so that it doesn't cut into the bridge, then the heart and kidneys carved to open up and adjust the tone for all the strings. Usually some carving of the dangly bits and some other marks to make it look cool. I can recommend the book "The Art of Violin Making" if this all sounds fun, otherwise you need to pay money for a luthier to do this for you. Most luthiers charge around $250 to carve a good bridge, $500 or more for a great one. Most bridges found on instruments are NOT good ones, and yes it makes a huge difference to the tone and behavior of the instrument. A student violin with a great bridge can easily play easier and sound better than a professional instrument with a lousy one. The Aubert VB7 is also fairly good, but the VB10 is a better choice if you think your instrument is worth more than a few hundred dollars. Best of luck!

I was installing new hardware and strings looking to fine tune the voice and tone of my instrument
I'm not a professional violinist, but my violin is above student grade. I was installing new hardware and strings looking to fine tune the voice and tone of my instrument. I purchased this bridge and when my local shop cut it and installed it, the voice and tone of my violin was substantially deeper and more rich. I can't believe how amazing this has made my violin. I know it's a bit pricey for a bridge, but if I knew the change I was about to get, I would have happily paid twice this amount.

Major major adjustment needed
The description on this product makes it sound like it just needs to be slotted. NOPE. It is super super tall. The one I received needed almost a full 1/4" cut off the top (more like 3/16). In trying to accomplish this, the bridge cracked in half, right at the weak point near the bottom. They might call the wood 'aged' but to me it just seemed brittle/fragile. For the record, I am not an idiot, and I have done lots of woodworking before. I can not say whether this bridge sounds better than any others, because I couldn't even get that far. Don't even get me started on the thickness of this bridge. Unless you have major amounts of prior experience with customizing bridges, this is not the bridge for you.

Okay, but too thick.
This bridge is a bit thick. I was hoping it would be like the Aubert I was replacing. Will take some CAREFUL sanding to see if it will still hold up.
