Worked great for me out of the box

I purchased this to use on a drill press, connected to a 3 phase motor. Works great, the instructions are a little hard to follow, but you can figure it out.

I used this to control the 240v 3 phase AC motor in my shop made belt grinder. I chose this model because of its 120v single phase input rating, expecting to have to upgrade it to get the full 2 HP out of my motor, and even ordered another Huanyang VFD rated for 220. Because I'd already had it connected I decided to plug it into the 220V outlet, and was pleasantly surprised to find that with minimal software setting modification: A) it turned on and runs and B) is harder to stall out when pressing a workpiece against the platen than on 120V. Best part is that it's effectively dual-voltage without doing anything special. It can output higher than line voltage to some degree - I have seen 130 3 phase output with a 110VAC single phase input. Double that for 220v. I knocked off a star because the manual is borderline garbage for someone who isn't already familiar with the programming, and because the screw terminals for the motor and power inputs are sized for 14AWG. I was able to get the 12AWG to fit, but it was very tight and I would have liked to have been able to terminate the ends with crimped ferrules. The rubber dust pads covering the holes in the underside of the unit also leave something to be desired - the one round hole fits a 1/2" clamping style strain relief for either the motor leads or power in, but the other connections are left to flap in the breeze. Not a deal breaker if you're mounting it in an enclosure, but if you're leaving it out then it's not enough. Do I regret buying this guy? Nope. Will I buy another of these when this unit dies? The jury's still out, but I'm closer to yes than no.

I struggled to get control of my 2.2kw spindle through mach4 with the Huanyang VFD, even though the spindle could be controlled via the operator interface of the VFD. I found UCCNC and was able to have complete control of the spindle with only 2 wires using RS-485. The settings in the VFD were easy to do, and as far as most manuals their explanation of each setting was pretty clear. I would definitely recommend this VFD for any type of motor. In fact I now have 2 of them, I'll use the 2nd as a backup, or build another machine.

This VFD is rated for 20 amps. My spindle is rated at 12 amps. I did a system reset so I can input the settings for my spindle and tried to change PD142 to 12 and the maximum it will go to is 11 amps. PD174 shows that the factory set amps to 11, what the heck!?!? Why are you advertising it as 20 amps.
