Love this book
This book is well written and great at explaining the basics of pastry making. I'm a complete newbie at this but have found it very easy to follow and successfully start making tasty pastries. The way the author presents each category of dough and the included recipes for each is great.

Can't Wait to Start Baking
Excellent recipes that I can hardly wait to try! Deciding what to make first is my challenge with this excellent book. I need to get a hard copy to refer to.

Easy to follow
Gave it to my granddaughter (12). She has made 5-6 things. Most where good. One recipe said 1/2 cup instead of 1/2 tbl spoon. But ok all in all.

Clearly written, easy to follow recipes
I’ll be honest, when it comes to pastry baking, I have zero experience but I came across this pastry book for beginners and thought huh, maybe I’ll give that a try. I’ve been wanting to kick my baking skills up a notch lately, my “go to” recipes getting a bit boring. The cover of this book is what drew me in. It was so appetizing and visually pleasing to look at I clicked “add to cart” and checked out. I am very pleased with my purchase. I guess you CAN judge a book by its cover! This cookbook is laid out in a way that is very easy to follow. Short, clear, simple recipes. Being a novice, I didn’t want to get overwhelmed or frustrated with complicated recipes and lengthy instructions. That is not be an issue with this book. Each step is to the point while perfectly descriptive. I found the first chapter especially beneficial, explaining basic methods, master ingredients, secrets, tips, and the different baking utensils to have on hand. I actually took the time to read through it, learning a few new things along the way. The common problems and FAQS sections have come in handy. I like how there is a “Master Recipe” at the start of each chapter. Judging from the reactions of my new creations, I won’t be considered a novice much longer! This book has given me the perfect starting point for my new venture.

Good directions and helpful tips, but almost no photos:(
I really wanted to love this book, but the lack of photos was very disappointing. All my favorite cookbooks have atleast one photo per recipe to show the finished product. In this book, almost none of the recipes have pictures. I am a visual learner and plan on googling all the recipes to have the aid of a picture or even step by step photos to take out any guess work and increase my chances of success:)

After years of creating meals in the kitchen it was the bane of my life that pie pastry was not one of my strengths. I think that with this book, that's all about to change. It's a complete education on what pastry is all about!

I am a bakery apprentice, this is perfect if you are studying bakery, it has taught me how to laminate dough, make croissants from scratch and make a sweet pastry apple pie. Every style of pastry in this book has a master recipe, the book gets me even more addicted to baking than I already am. Thankyou

A great book, with great recipes! I can definitely see myself in the kitchen trying lots of them. However. You have no idea what 90% of the recipes should end up looking like as there are almost no photos the whole way through. There are one or two random shots, but 9/10 recipes don’t come with a photo, and most of them I’ve certainly never attempted before. That’s my only mark down/disappointment with the book.
