Summer Island: A Novel

Great Read! At least to me it was. Kristin Hannah does such an awesome job developing her characters. Plot was interesting and entertaining.

Ruby has resented her mom since she walked out on her family. When she is given the opportunity to write a tell all book about her famous mother, she jumps at the chance. Her mother invites her to their family Summer home to help with her recovery from an accident. It is there that she learns the real side of her mother, the truth behind her past and even rekindles a youthful romance.

Such a beautiful story of conversion of heart. I loved every word every family sees the wounds caused by people unable to see both sides and to forgive move on. It was good to read of one that did

I really enjoyed this book. It’s a story that kept me interested until the end. The end met my expectation.

Heading into a KH novel, you know you’re going to be taken to the edge and back with emotions. This book did it more than any other I’ve read from this author. It took way longer to get hooked on the story but once I did, I was rooting for the girls and their mum to have a great reconciliation, which it was. That too took some time, communicating and understanding in an authentic way. It’s not only about sister bonding, mother daughter relationships, it’s also about two brothers finding each other again before it’s too late. And to round it all off is a romance as well. Seems a lot but it works well. Even though it felt a little dated, it gave me some nostalgia living in that era.

Entertaining, an easy read. I would recommend for young or old Adult. This book shows that Love prevails when communication is open.

This is a wonderfully written novel about the value, beauty and fallibility of family. The characters are deep, the realities of what we learn in communication and how we often only see part of people is described so well. I loved reading this book xx

I loved it Kristen Hannah is a brilliant novelist. At times funny but also very poignant.

The storyline is good and I enjoyed the book but Hannah draws out the story so far as to make it boring. On more than one occasion I debated leaving it and starting a new book. It just dragged too much.

Wonderful, remarkable story. Hard hitting and powerful but at the same very tender. Kristin Hannah never disappoints with her books. Can’t wait for the next one.

This was an incredible story. I loved it from start to finish. I had shed some tears along the way. I highly recommend this novel. It will touch your heart.
